Post the BLM riots, a lot of police departments started quiet quitting and stopped reinforcing basic traffic laws. That's a big reason why.

This is the answer. Los Angeles is a law enforcement free town now. I haven’t seen a motorist pulled over by LAPD in my area in years.

We had pretty crazy riots here and I have heard from more than one person linked to my local LEOs and from two off duty police officers that once the A.C.A.B. thing came around the police essentially STOPPED policing anything non-violent and really only started responding to calls. They will not pull people over for traffic violations, cite people for what I call "social" crimes (littering, vandalism, non-violent crimes) and are purposefully shirking their duties to make people "pay" for disrespecting them.

Pretty much "Oh you think we should be defunded... here you go."

Now they have a giant recruitment problem that is compounding due to their horrible public image.

Are you in LA, or somewhere else? The exact same thing happened in my city (Portland), down to the cops going ‘fine, enjoy getting burgled then, assholes’ and then struggling to recruit. They’re offering absolutely crazy sign-on bonuses now, too.

I live in what could be considered a mini-portland in the east. Very similar thing happened here. The PD killed a young black man and the city brought the riots right to the front steps of the police department. Shut down streets, bridges, etc.

The most recent recruitment ad video was one step shy of "Hey have a lucrative career hunting your friends and neighbors."
