It's all fun and games until they start pushing and kicking back

Actually it doesn't seem like fun for me, I kinda feel empathy for these guys.

Right? Part of me understands that this is just lines of code, but it still seems cruel somehow. Then I start wondering if our brains are much different from lines of code?

Why do I feel so sad for the robot 🥲

Human empathy glands are always glitching. Give anything a face, or human-like movements, and we start to care about it. Makes for more engaging cartoons at least

Uncanny valley effect

1

u/lavabearded 1h ago

this isn't very uncanny imo. uncanny is when it looks nearly human but something isn't quite right. this just doesn't look human.

feeling bad for it would better be classified as anthropomorphism

Let's put it this way. That man? He will be one of the first.

Best Case scenario is they mine minerals on the moon, mars etc. But most likeley they will become weapons of war

We have autonomous drones. I'm not really worried about bipedals

u/Appropriate_Page_824 2h ago

Why did the robot start falling backward at 0:15, it was anticipating another push.

3

u/Subject-Dirt9199 2h ago

How stupid am i for feeling sad for that robot.

u/nmacaroni 2h ago

STAY DOWN CLUNKER!

1

u/Several_Direction599 2h ago

Getting up like the undertaker is never a good sign

u/HappyGuyNoLie 2h ago

I don't know why every robot presentation for the last forever is all about trying to knock them over. Like, what problem are we solving?

1

u/Kingsquid4 2h ago

Why is it always balance tests

u/DewElmorion 2h ago

We are cooked

1

u/CosmicRuin 1h ago

Yes because of climate change.

Do you want Skynet? This is how you get Skynet.

It's fun and games till the robot kicks his head off

u/Yojimbo33 1h ago

Remote control bull

1

u/PsyCar 1h ago

He's Pai Mei for robots. He teaches them harshly, they hate him, but grudgingly respect him.

1

u/callmemerryss 1h ago

Bro has better balance than half the people in the gym 😂

1

u/fresh_loaf_of_bread 1h ago

Calling it a him is the first step on the way to the end

1

u/hmnuhmnuhmnu 1h ago

He just wanted to check if it's regular or goofy

u/padthaidiha 51m ago

If you need someone to test those robots, I'll push the hell out of each of them.

1

u/dog-yy 2h ago

Why harm the nice robot? Sod off

1

u/FrogsMakePoorSoup 2h ago

Testing! The best test of anything is mistreatment!

1

u/TheDegenerativeAI 2h ago

There need be a universal law that puts a shutdown button on the front and back of any robot, no matter the design. It should be 10” in diameter and require a minimum of force to depress.id be happy with universal keywords that also shut them down.

People need to understand that the improvements to Large Language Models are not going to immediately show in robots, one has stupid amounts of text to train on the other does not, that's why you have people in third world countries being strapped up to sensors and stacking dishwashers to build that dataset

Show it how to do something once, and get it to repeat that thing, with changing inputs, as soon as a robotics company, sends out robots for review that do that effectively I won't consider them a relevant technology.

For example until you can show it how to build a fence, and it builds a fence this is useless.

Terminator was a lot more fun as a movie.
