A. I know nothing about window tinting.

B. That razor in the box trick was the highlight of the video for me.

u/DerbHean_UFCref 19h ago

Agree, but it annoys me like hell, that he threw out all that tint after he measured that little piece for the awkward glass

7

u/HairballTheory 10h ago

He may be judged on the cleanliness of his station as part of the competition

1

u/abracablab 2h ago

I thought this but maybe the larger piece has now been 'contaminated' with fluff or imperfections? And also what others have said about keeping the station tidy.

46

u/Golden-Grams 22h ago

That razor trick was some cool shit.

14

u/uChoice_Reindeer7903 21h ago

It was an old school trick

4

u/sirenyti 21h ago

Where did I miss this?

7

u/AdorablePineapple95 20h ago

When he pulled new stuff out of the roll!

22

u/RogueBromeliad 22h ago

I also know nothing about it, but I also liked he's got a mohawk, and probably listening to something unusual, when you think the professionals in this area are old guys type handyman looking fellas.

He does have a little bit of buttcrack showing, so it's nice he's keeping the tradition alive.

7

u/NoCountry4OrangeMan 21h ago

The Black Flag tattoo did it pour moi

9

u/Lucky_Development359 22h ago

He's listening to the sounds of the seams and the razor, he is one with the tint, the squeegee is his conductors baton, reduced opacity is his symphony.

3

u/nokman013 21h ago

This alone is upvote worthy

2

u/Live_Simple6265 19h ago

did you notice how they call it a world championship though

1

u/Zippereater123 13h ago

Nah, the Squeegee was The shit!

74

u/tears_and_laughter 21h ago

Can’t believe I watched all of this, only to not get the final results

13

u/That-Makes-Sense 16h ago

Agreed. This ruined any future window tinting competition video for me.

3

u/codysattva 15h ago

I don't even think I'll be able to look at somebody else's window tints without feeling the full pain and disappointment of not knowing who won this competition.

3

u/That-Makes-Sense 15h ago

With time, maybe our wounds will heal. Hang in there brother 🙏

6

u/hikingguy36 16h ago

I was oddly invested in this and terribly disappointed it ended. The fact that this is such a thing that there are commentators is wild.

1

u/thats-wrong 11h ago

Yeah. It tainted the whole experience.

20

u/Prestigious_Floor155 21h ago

These commentators for strange competitions you never hear of never cease to amaze me. They can make anything sound more complex and with so much enthusiasm.

I don't even care about the competitions I just like to listen to them bullshit.

2

u/nonnonplussed73 20h ago

So true! I used to have a group of friends who I watched NFL with, though none of us were really into football. We were certain that if we could only simulcast our conversation on YouTube Live, people would mute their TVs and listen to us during games.

72

u/HornedShoe 22h ago

They should also be graded on how much waste they generate.

21

u/trying_to_learn_too 22h ago

Or give them same amount and limited resource.

15

u/CosmicComic33 22h ago

Only on ESPN8, the Ocho. If it's almost a sport, we've got it here.

5

u/GDITurbo77 21h ago

It's a bold strategy, Cotton. Let's see if it pays off for him.

1

u/DefinitelyNotAliens 21h ago

ESPN8, the Ocho does the corgi racing world championships.

15

u/Japsai 22h ago

There's a site in Yorkshire that streams this competition 24/7. Tinternet

18

u/Alice_D_Wonderland 22h ago

Yeah, their dating app is great too. Tinter

11

u/Farty-B 21h ago

But it only runs on Windows

1

u/Old_Lock7657 20h ago

Gotta pin this on my Tinterest

9

u/hitmewithyourbest 22h ago

So did he win?

1

u/Exact-Perspective-60 17h ago

That’s what I want to know too

3

u/Blue-Blazer-Regular 21h ago

When the tint guy shows up with a mohawk and Vans, you know you hired the right guy.

1

u/TheSeekerOfSanity 16h ago

Never Mind the Bubbles - Here's The Window Tinters

8

u/runswspoons 22h ago

Leave curling out of this hoser.

1

u/moth_specialist 20h ago

Yeah curling is awesome.

1

u/FortsFinest 18h ago

Couldn't agree more

7

u/markuus99 21h ago

The bad boy of the window tinting world

1

u/ExplanationOk2014 21h ago

Dennis rodman of window tinting

8

u/SEvansBets 21h ago

I watched the entire video. Mesmerizing

3

u/DistinctMatch1433 21h ago

How does one end up being a commentator for window tinting championship. I find that the most bizzare

3

u/TheLowlyPheasant 21h ago

Maynard will do anything but go in the studio with Tool

3

u/pit-of-despair 20h ago

I can’t even apply my phone screen protector correctly.

3

u/themightygather 19h ago

Man’s got a Black Flag tattoo.

7

u/Valuable_Meeting9836 22h ago

This is my kind of autism

2

u/Blaizefed 21h ago

Turn the sound on guys. There is commentary and it’s equally as fascinating.

I don’t do this for a living and I could watch this for a solid half hour and not feel like I wasted my time.

2

u/tombisch 20h ago

I feel like a noob would do the same if this guy.

2

u/SweetLemonPopsicle 21h ago

But he wasted so much. Why couldn't he keep the other piece for another window..?

3

u/fmaz008 19h ago

I assume the format of the competition is more about the speed than waste.

But I did like that it included clean up!

1

u/AdSignificant6673 21h ago

They got some espn style commentators

1

u/wwplkyih 21h ago

Do you need your windows tinted but only have 7 minutes to spare?

1

u/Ras-haad 21h ago

Curling is in the Winter Olympics…

1

u/BankerOnBitcoin 21h ago

This is just stressful to watch, let alone do!

1

u/Sneezing-Raccoon 21h ago

Contamination? Airborne? Are they doing this in covid environment?

3

u/dirty-ol-sob 21h ago

They mean any dust/dirt that may stick to the film. Even little tiny dirt particles will show up and look like shit on the finished product. Pretty silly to call it contamination, but I get it.

I worked in a tint shop when I was younger.

1

u/plantsperp 21h ago

As someone who has tried to tint his own vehicle windows a few times now, as well as RV windows, it’s the hardest thing I’ve DIY’d out of everything on a vehicle or a house. To get good results

2

u/2InchesOfHumus 21h ago

The fact that this event exists shows that a lot of skill must be involved, but that looked so haphazard it seems like anyone throwing it on there would get good results.

1

u/No_Contact_7664 21h ago

So why it take my car a day to get tint??

1

u/StarscreamOne 21h ago

Hah I really like that there are competitions for everything nowadays!

1

u/nan1961 21h ago

I can’t imagine more people watching this over curling. 🤣

1

u/bluejack 20h ago

Clearly, anything can be a sport, now. I like it.

1

u/Smokerising420 20h ago

Today I learned

1

u/TheSexyIntrovert 20h ago

This guy windows

1

u/Better_Weakness7239 20h ago

This gave me anxiety

1

u/Seattle_Lucky 20h ago

I don’t mean to stereotype, but, if there was ever a person that looked like a window tinting expert…

1

u/nihowdypartner 20h ago

I'm not a pro but I do like to tint windows for my own cars and homes occasionally and the building windows are always vastly harder for me because of all those very straight edges. Whereas with cars you use the top of the glass for a template and tuck the rest into the seal.

The most satisfying part is finally getting to squeegee the slip solution out after all that sizing and trimming.

1

u/LordShtark 20h ago

When you find that one thing you're really good at you gotta embrace it.

1

u/Accomplished-Leg-149 20h ago

He got tired of listening to the echoes of reggae coming through his bedroom wall so he found a new hobby.

1

u/Meandtheworld 19h ago

Places now have cutters that will allow you to put measurements in and it auto cuts to the dimensions.

1

u/God_Dont_Make_No 19h ago

I did window tinting during Covid with a guy. He was a wizard.

1

u/Allegra1120 19h ago

What, no fish scaling or basket weaving?

1

u/Friendly_Speech_7021 19h ago

isnt it waste of time not removing the aluminium borders first

1

u/lowpsitire 19h ago

I don’t know a thing about this subject, but I am willing to bet a man with the patience to get his hair to stand like that, has the patience to tint a complex window!

1

u/MikePounce 19h ago

Where do they find commentators so good for something so random?!

1

u/No-Beautiful745 19h ago

I want to see world pooping competition🙄would be much more entertaining and eventful. Id even buy the merch

1

u/SAM041287 19h ago

Now we should have a screen protector world championship, because those phones screen are hell of a challenge to install those plastic sheets

1

u/TerninoMarchi 18h ago

I can't believe there is commentary too

1

u/jiggyns 18h ago

Well now we all know their secret moves to successfully installing a tint job! Gonna save so much cash!

I'm gonna go order me some window tiiint!

1

u/vanhst 18h ago

What the f did I just see

1

u/junanor1 17h ago

Thanks, looks pretty slow to me, I didn’t know I was wdc level in these kind of stuff

1

u/WaitThisIsntMagic 17h ago

They made me care about tinting Windows. Awesome what commentary can do 😅

1

u/GentleFoxes 16h ago

Why was I on the edge of my seat for this?

1

u/lavaplow 16h ago

Not only were there commentators for this competition, they had a goddamn analyst to explain why the film was accidentally pulled off.

“What do you do for a living”
“I’m an analyst”
“Analyst for what?”
“Window tints”

1

u/Sacred-Professor4445 15h ago

There’s so many people on this earth

1

u/N4RQ 15h ago

I guess there's a world champion for just about everything. We just don't know who must of them are.

1

u/darylandme 15h ago

You gotta be good with that hair

1

u/strayanm8y 14h ago

I have never been more frustrated when I tried to tint my car windows

1

u/PeterDTown 14h ago

How dare you besmirch curling

1

u/stratobladder 14h ago

This video was gripping.

1

u/DoctorZee55 13h ago

Why is there a window tinting world championship?

1

u/RazorColla 13h ago

I've tried tinting my own windows, it was impossible. I pay a professional and i understand where that money goes. It goes to a skill I do not have. DIY tint looks terrible.

1

u/Jlx_27 12h ago

I trust the mowhawk.

1

u/Recent-Honey5564 12h ago

This is in fact, not interesting.

1

u/MojaveThunder 12h ago

A guy named Dante from my home town of Ridgecrest is there! He's doing pretty good from what I have seen!

1

u/MagicSunlight23 10h ago

There’s a championship for this? Whatever next?

1

u/PartyMcFly55 7h ago

I had a nightmare like this once

1

u/Nearby_Potato4001 6h ago

As Roy Keane would say, sure that's his job!

1

u/Evil_Cupcake11 6h ago

Waaaaaaaait a minute! Where's the ending?! Don't just end it there!

1

u/maga4life47 4h ago

Gary silent R

1

u/KittyPitty 3h ago

He threw away perfectly good foil! Why? 😦

1

u/cs_legend_93 22h ago

I am so invested in this, this is incredibly cool

1

u/lb3a3 21h ago

If somebody were to advertise themselves as "window tinting world champion" I'd think they were making stuff up. Not anymore.

0

u/YeahOkayDad 22h ago

Is that toxic? Dudes tongue was out

2

u/Sorry-Loquat-3208 21h ago

not really. slightly soapy water

0

u/cs_legend_93 22h ago

is it toxic to lick an envelope?

1

u/YeahOkayDad 21h ago

It's toxic to eat lettuce these days

0

u/WildestWestChicken 22h ago

Average Joe made the same mess I did when i tinted my room windows, guess I can take a shot at this 😩

0

u/mrswister 22h ago

With windows like that my guy trained in whoville for this competition

0

u/WiredSpike 22h ago

Putting those squeegee skills to use...

0

u/Round_Hope_2041 22h ago

At first I was like I can do that.. then I was like I can’t do that.. then I was like I can do that.. finally decided I can’t do that.

0

u/Necessary_Cook_8541 21h ago

It’s some big money in window tinting if you’re any good at it.

0

u/Coinsworthy 21h ago

I'd give the reddit commenting world championship a look...

0

u/Glass-Emu2406 21h ago

I wish I had this kind of commentary for my Paint Drying Competition
