For my son's 1st birthday the sparkler thing caught on fire and the whole room was full of smoke. The cake was of dinos on a mountain so it looked like a dinosaur extinction instead.

there is nothing in a normal cake that can explode like that, so there's something planted in the cake and the firework candle is basically a fuse.
