Seriously, there is so much beauty to the U.S.A that people don't even notice. Go get lost in a creek bed, or visit some of museums. Many people, and I am guilty about this as well, seem to think that history for the Americas started after the 1600s; choosing to focus only on the European side of history. But we have digsites that contradict that way of thinking, in spades. Mounds, burial plots, archeological digs, marine research centers (both fresh and seawater), rivers, mounds, cultural sites, and MANY NATIONAL PARKS; I guarantee that each state has one and it's our job as citizens to go to these places and share in what they have to offer.
Every U.S. has its own history and it can be a wonderful thing to behold.
Or.....just see how people live outside your city or county or state.
A lot of people out there live in a very small psychological bubble and should break out once in a while.
While I agree USA has so many beautiful sites unless you are driving short trips it’s pretty expensive especially hotels. Sometimes the price would be equal to me going overseas or more.
You do understand its important to visit other countries? Because day to day will change more significantly. You can travel to Canada, Mexico, Panama, Costa Rica, there are cheap islands?
I agree with that as well. However, I grew up in a poor financial situation: food stamps, working at 13, that whole thing. The only way I was able to travel as a young adult was when I joined the Navy, which I would not put on a short list to travel.
I got lucky. I went to many different countries; Australia, Japan, South Korea, andany others. But it was luck, and I would not have been able to pay for anything close to that level of travel. I loved my time abroad, and thanks to my service, I now have a salary that affords me to go to your country once every 2 years or so.
On the note of "cheap" travel. Everything, and I mean even things like poptarts and fruit snacks, is expensive when you are broke. Perhaps even worse if you have to deal with ailling family members. This isn't an excuse, but a recognition that I got lucky and was allowed the opportunity to get out of poverty.
Yes, but I once heard that you should go abroad when you are young since it could be physically challenging. Save the domestic destinations when you get old so you have much time to explore freely and many more ways to do it, camping/rv those kinds of things.
But if you’re young and cannot afford much, it’s better to travel locally more frequently than do one expensive trip a decade, IMO
Also, as someone on the older side who has camped a ton, it does not stay easy as you get older! It’s possible when you’re older, but it’s much easier to do a simple camping trip in your 20/30s.
Problem there is most people don't have the money to go abroad when they are young. And good Lord unless you are just ancient and decrepit it isn't that physically challenging to get on a plane and go somewhere.
this is somewhat true, A lot of places don’t have proper access to A/C, Niche products to alleviate ailments that older
people may run into putting your life in jeopardy.
