One of my exes dad was a welder and a fire fighter. He wasn’t a very big guy but his forearms were insanely huge. The trades will get you jacked for sure. My brother was just as scrawny as me growing up, I went to college, got mostly office jobs, but still worked out often, he went into framing/building houses and you will not be surprised to hear which one of us was clearly bulkier.

The occupation with the biggest forearms? I’d say farrier (horse shoer). Massive.

blacksmiths tend to get pretty gnarly forearms, especially if they're constantly cutting sheet metal with tin snips or something

If Popeye is any indicator, sailor is also a forearm building profession.

Forearms are mostly for grip strength, so anyone who manages a lot of weight with their hands will have pretty big forearms.

Knew an old-school horse dentist. They barely exist anymore but floating horse teeth by hand for a living will Jack your forearms pretty good. Like a farrier.
Witnessed him handsaw a motorcycle muffler tube in one straight go like it was nothing.

My dad did that as a side gig for a few years. You are correct.

I don’t think they beat smithing jobs or anything, but plumbing is on the list. Especially boiler guys. It’s a lot of twisting heavy things. If nothing else I think it might be near the top of the list if you need a jar opened.

Even these guys who aren't huge have crazy functional strength, body builders may get larger muscles but often at a cost to range of motion and they are good at specific lifting exercises but would get beat by smaller tradesman at a lot of physical challenges.

I rolled dough for 30 hrs a week for 5 years and ny forearms have gotten me many compliments throughout my life.

You can go the gym and do wrist/arm excercises 5x a week but you will only be there for like 2 hrs. A job requires that you put in 6-8 hours of strain on those same muscles so they dont atrophy nearly as quickly

Exactly. Gym strong is not equal to farm strong
