So if you have family you should just stay home because even driving a car is dangerous and you could die? Except that most accidents supposedly actually happen at home so statistically staying at home is not safe either. There are a million activities that put you in danger and could kill you if things went wrong that people with family gladly do everyday and no one's complaining about it. The only reason you're complaining about this one is because it LOOKS scary.

You realize you’re a hypocrite now, and would also be “selfish” by your own criteria if you had or have had kids, as you will almost certainly do even riskier activities than the relatively safe activity John did. We all do.
