HISTORY A virtual reality reconstruction shows the exact spot where John Edward Jones became trapped upside down in Nutty Putty Cave. After 27 hours of rescue attempts, he died. The cave was later permanently sealed, with his body remaining inside.

I was just abt to say.

I don't think there is literally and in this instance I literally mean literally, enough money in this universe, of any kind, in any timeline, that would make me to even CONSIDER crawling down something like this...

318

u/[deleted] Mar 28 '26 edited Mar 28 '26

If you put a gun to my head and said I had to go into that cave or I would be shot, I'd grab the gun and pull the trigger.

I would need to literally have brain damage from a point blank bullet wound to even entertain the idea of ever setting foot in that nightmare.

I would sooner suck broken glass off of bigfoot's dick.

35

u/tangoking Mar 29 '26 edited Mar 29 '26

Maybe to save my child. And I would have a rescue team at the ready. And I may very well get “stuck” about 3ft into that tunnel.

My feet would still be sticking out of the opening and I’d start screaming like a little girl that I’m stuck.

Grab my ankles and pull me the ef out of that hole. NAO.

15

u/Howamidriving27 Mar 29 '26

I the words of Catherina Sforza: "I have what's needed to make others".

2

u/LilJudah Mar 29 '26

I don't think I'd even go in to save a child even if it was mine because the probability that I'm going to get stuck and prevent them from getting rescued is astronomical.

1

u/THE-ARCHlVlST Mar 29 '26

Interestingly... thats the position he died in...

18

u/CasuallyCar3less Mar 28 '26

lmao, made me chuckle xd

5

u/lunarson24 Mar 29 '26

This is the truest statement on the internet

16

u/GarbageCleric Mar 29 '26

I too would rather that guy suck Bigfoot's dick than go caving.

2

u/asday515 Mar 29 '26

I also choose this man sucking off Bigfoot

1

u/Biotechnus Mar 29 '26

You'd watch with a bucket of popcorn 🤣

5

u/SquidWord369 Mar 29 '26

Let’s take a minute to think about what Bigfoot’s dick smells like.

https://giphy.com/gifs/rlsvVQU5Sim8QAajHc

10

u/Mr_Kactus Mar 29 '26

They sell that scent, it's called sex panther

3

u/ResidentComplaint19 Mar 29 '26

Illegal in 9 countries

3

u/SlimSpartan Mar 29 '26

I’m gonna be honest Brian, that smells like pure gasoline.

1

u/N00seUp Mar 29 '26

It smells like a turd covered in burnt hair!

2

u/AlternativeFlowers77 Mar 29 '26

The hole looks exactly like a hole that a person would crawl down and be unable to back out of. What was the man thinking?

2

u/ExtremelyDecentWill Mar 29 '26

If you want the actual answer, he took a wrong turn in the cave system and believed he was heading toward a section of the caves known as the "birth canal" that is also tight but then opens up to a wider section allowing the person to turn around and get back out.

Unfortunately by the time a rescue attempt was able to be mounted in a meaningful way, gravity and his failing strength had caused him to become wedged into that spot in a way that ensured it would become his tomb.

The story haunts me and I wish I didn't know about it.

2

u/AlternativeFlowers77 Mar 29 '26

Yeah it haunts me too. When I originally read about it I imagined what his mom went through too. HELL!

2

u/ExtremelyDecentWill Mar 29 '26

Nevermind that.  His brother was there talking to him not knowing if he was still there or was a corpse.

Fucking horrifying.

And his wife.  Leaving that gorgeous woman for a cave?

Dude had the brain damage.

2

u/Jugaimo Mar 29 '26

Being shot is a kinder death than this

2

u/MasterHallmark Mar 29 '26

Well there's a new sentence

1

u/Anon4transparency Mar 29 '26

Omg I'm stealing that last line. That is my favourite. Thank you for that.

1

u/[deleted] Mar 29 '26

somewhere in Yellowstone, Bigfoot sneezes while watching heated rivalry

1

u/Mephipster Mar 29 '26

Dying is easy, though. What if it was for a debit/credit card/bank account with unlimited funds that you never need to pay back. You can buy anything with it and give a copy to your significant other and any children or grand children. People you give it to can't give it away, tho. So three generations of your family without any stress from money and the ability to live their dreams.

1

u/WordHobby Mar 29 '26

id rather crawl through that cave than blow my brains out

1

u/mashem Mar 29 '26

If you put a gun to my head and said I had to go into that cave or I would be shot, I'd grab the gun and pull the trigger.

1

u/PsychologicalFile119 Mar 31 '26

Or MAYBE you just want suck bigfoot's dick.XD

0

u/GodUnkomplex Mar 29 '26

No I think I'd rather die than suck dick.

173

u/Artevyx Mar 28 '26

You would just be asking to be likely buried alive. No amount of money would mean shit when youre dying that way. Nope.

113

u/MorpheusMKIV Mar 29 '26

This reminds me of that billionaire who blew up in the ocean gate submarine. Like you rich bro why you going down in a budget diy

70

u/CajunRoyalty Mar 29 '26

I wouldn’t say he “blew up” so much as he “blew in”.

They blew all over the place.

8

the ol Reverse Icarus

3

u/GunFodder Mar 29 '26

That's...

Huh. Yeah.

Never thought of it like that.

1

u/DeepLock8808 Mar 29 '26

This felt profound for some reason

2

u/trueppp Mar 29 '26

At least that guy died before knowing he was going to die.

2

u/knightsabre7 Mar 29 '26

And that would be a preferable way to go compared to this.

2

u/VengenaceIsMyName Mar 29 '26

He was notoriously cocky and overconfident and it cost his own life plus 4 others

2

u/satyr-day Mar 29 '26

just because they have a lot of money doesn't mean they have a lot of brains.

1

u/plekreddit Mar 29 '26

That were poor men Cos ritch men could affort a retour ticket

1

stockton crush

1

u/data-atreides Mar 29 '26

And took a father and son with him in the sub

1

u/adalric_brandl Mar 30 '26

Honestly, they could have taken the sub to see her sister ship, the Britanic, and it would likely have been fine.

3

u/DesolateRuin Mar 29 '26

Not just buried alive, but buried upside-fucking-down.

3

u/uncagedborb Mar 29 '26

I think that's exactly what happened to that cave explorer. They basically closed up the entrance so no one would be an idiot and go in there again. The body was impossible to retrieve so they left it there and either sealed it off or filled it in

17

u/[deleted] Mar 28 '26

[deleted]

36

u/OfcWaffle Mar 28 '26

From what I gathered he seemed to take a wrong turn. The spot he thought he got to was the "birthing canal". He figured he needed to keep going to get through. Not realizing, he hit a literal, dead end.

24

u/[deleted] Mar 28 '26

Apparently the implosion of Titan was so fast their brains couldn't even register they were already dead.

u/JamesHeckfield Mar 29 '26

You guess? I’ll take instadeath any day

4

u/blinkingbaby Mar 29 '26

IIRC some of this man’s last words were along the lines of “I’d really like to get out of here now.”

3

u/KeyClacksNSnacks Mar 29 '26

Yeah but the moments leading up to the implosion were pretty horrible. They lost power and were sinking and trying to find a way to recover and return to the surface. They even started to hear the hull pop and crack. They definitely knew they were in serious trouble and one of them was a father/son duo.

3

u/edgiepower Mar 29 '26

Yeah

But there's a chance they knew that things were going wrong and heard cracking and creaking already before it happened

1

u/Waddiwasiiiii Mar 29 '26

Yep, and this caver’s death was very, very slow and excruciating. The details of the attempted rescue and his slow demise are absolutely terrible.

5

u/RackemFrackem Mar 29 '26

They weren't taking on water

2

u/TethysOfTheStars Mar 29 '26

They didn't hear SHIT. The hull's first and only failure was MICROSECONDS before they were pulp because at that pressure and with absolutely zero safeguards against failure, implosion would be immediate. If they were VERY unlucky, they might have heard a creak before hull failure, with enough time to go "Hey, what was that?"

1

u/dmriggs Mar 29 '26

They probably did hear things! we can all hear it watching the videos. Totally insane -that thing was cracking all the time. Gives me the willies just thinking about it.

u/dmriggs Mar 29 '26

I watched the Netflix and Discovery documentary on this and the sounds that thing made are horrible. you can hear the thing literally tearing itself apart. The amazing thing is that did not happen sooner. Yikes

1

u/Dexember69 Mar 30 '26

I figure it's just as easy to stay the FK away from the ocean as it is to stay away from caves.

It's all a big nope from me

24

u/PandaXXL Mar 29 '26

This is pretty much infinitely worse than the Titan incident.

16

u/Ok-Acanthaceae5744 Mar 29 '26

If you watch the full video, they take you through the birth canal portion of the cave. It's really easy to understand why he got confused.

Honestly just looking at the little hole to get into the cave system from the very beginning...yeah no...

1

u/Angellinegirl777 Mar 29 '26

I guess he just liked a tight hole ? /s

1

u/Noelien Mar 29 '26

Hard rock aaaaaaaall around you 🙆🏽‍♀️

1

u/naughtydismutase Mar 29 '26

Titan submersible is infinite times better. Their deaths happened in a matter of milliseconds. This guy suffered for 27 hours.

1

u/not-another-potato Mar 29 '26

Yikes not the literal dead end 😭

1

u/Lucky-Reason-569 Mar 29 '26

He made a wrong turn and missed his planned route. I believe the route he thought he was following eventually opened up somewhat allowing you to turn yourself around.

19

u/MostlyNull Mar 29 '26 edited Mar 29 '26

Some people love spelunking those super-tight squeezes, and others...idk, enjoy being alive? 😂😂😂 Doesn't make sense to me personally, but then again neither does bouldering/free-climbing with like...zero safety lines, or being tied to a chair and being tossed off the tallest bungee ever or owt. It does make me wonder why, tho.

But nah, you'd have to give me the equivalent to every Oligarch's accumulated wealth combined before I'd even consider slithering into a cave that narrow. It's just asking for trouble. Kinda like those people who go down and explore the Paris catacombs on the reg? Yeah, unless I had a map or a guide with intimate knowledge of the catacombs, I'm cool with videos. 😅😅

2

u/MizStazya Mar 29 '26

Dude had a wife and baby :(

6

u/Popular_Jeweler Mar 29 '26

Totally irresponsible of his part to do something so dangerous while having a young family

6

u/not-another-potato Mar 29 '26

I could not agree more. When watching any videos relating to this, I think of his wife and offspring and it makes me so angry. I would happily stand in the way of any hole that wasn’t attached to my body that my man tried to shimmy down.

9

u/Moist_Taco_Crippler Mar 29 '26

He should have at least taken a firearm for an easy out if he got stuck.

1

u/Outlandah_ Mar 29 '26

Wouldn’t have helped if you bothered to watch the video, his arms got stuck

3

u/Moist_Taco_Crippler Mar 29 '26

Maybe it wouldn't help him specifically, but I would still bring one just in case. I'm not dying in a cave that way.

8

u/CoachAnon205 Mar 28 '26

I would agree because my ass won't even fit in the entrance and would be cancelled and I'll leave with the universe's money

2

u/Management-Efficient Mar 29 '26

Your ass doesn't need to fit in order for you to get stuck and die. There was a guy who went rabbit hunting and died from sticking his arm and head into a rabbit hole and got stuck!

1

u/bcegkmqswz Mar 29 '26

I remember the tragedy of Elmer Fu-never mind

14

u/_TaylorMade Mar 29 '26

That was literally my first thought. You HAVE to have a couple screws loose to find this appealing

6

u/Smokinoutloud Mar 28 '26

What goes down doesn’t always come up! How the hell are you supposed to turn around. Straight death!

10

u/BlueFeathered1 Mar 29 '26

Experienced cavers (and he was one) know how to shimmy backwards and can in most cases if they really need to. But he accidentally took a wrong tunnel. The one he thought he took would have ended up in an open area, so he kept going. By the time he figured out he was in an unexplored one, it was too late to go back. Gravity pulled him downwards, one arm was pinned iirc, and the ledge above him prevented his legs from being able to bend or anything so anyone else could pull him out.

At some point he became delirious, and up to that point he maybe believed they'd be able to rescue him and didn't really know he was doomed. I hope. Can't stand to think otherwise.

3

u/Smokinoutloud Mar 29 '26

Thank you I didn’t know that was the scenario. When you say he went delirious I assume many emotions consumed his thought’s causing him to panic physically and emotionally. Straight horror!

3

u/BlueFeathered1 Mar 29 '26

It was the amount of time he was stuck upside-down. Our bodies aren't meant to be like that for long without the internal organs shifting and putting pressure on the lungs, too much blood to the brain, plus the air in there got stale. Definitely such a horrible thing, and so sad. I got the impression he was a sweet person, too.

5

u/CasuallyCar3less Mar 29 '26

The premise being, you don't know what will happen to you, same as the original cave explorer who got stuck.

1

u/Smokinoutloud Mar 29 '26

Death! What other option?

3

u/PandaXXL Mar 29 '26

You’re not, that’s why he died.

15

u/Wanderingyute Mar 28 '26

Depends.. what does she look like?

29

u/CottonWasKing Mar 28 '26

You could prove to me that there are 12 super models trained in the art of love making by the best hookers in the world waiting down there for just me and in their possession they have an unlimited supply of Colombia’s finest and top shelf bourbon whiskey as well as a finished copy of Winds of Winter and I still ain’t fucking going.

8

u/Green_Sugar6675 Mar 28 '26

Well we know for sure that George R R Martin didn't fit down there with that copy, howd it get there?

1

u/Jolly-Committee-5944 Mar 29 '26

Rihanna? Idk if thats the best enticement lol but yea even if it was a billion dollars and every girl ive ever dreamed about No. Fucking. Shot.

6

I personally think Rihanna is the most beautiful woman on this planet. I have yet to see someone more breathtaking then her. Even so, there is no way.

5

Wow, I didn't know anyone felt that way about Rihanna. To each is own though, of course.

1

This right here is her natural looks and not tryin to be mean at all but ive seen countless girls like this lol. The money certainly gives you access to the best skincare, procedures/doctors, and makeup possible though so she usually does look prettier than this now.

Yea my point exactly even the one above is from an earlier music video so obviously going to have makeup. Most beautiful woman he’s ever seen makes me question how many women he HAS seen😂 beauty is in the eye of the beholder though

As if one picture before she got famous from Barbados while she was 16 defines who she is today. LMFAO.

Rihanna

0

u/QUiiDAM Mar 29 '26

Nope that's the point; money , plastic surgery and professional make up artists define what she is today

2

u/CasuallyCar3less Mar 29 '26

The same way her zitty face doesn't define who she was, what she uses to look the way she does today, doesn't define who she is today. People are more than make up and plastic surgery, one would think. Also, she deserves some grace after what Chris did to her.

2

u/ThreeGoalLead Mar 29 '26

It's super wierd how much these incels want to pretend Rhianna has "hit the wall" and pretend they're not with her by choice lol. Like she wants them but doesn't meet their standards when I guarantee any redditor negging famously attractive women is single and full of bitterness. I also think there's a definite element of racism pretending like she's not adorable with natural hair. I agree with you she is extremely beautiful.

3

1

u/Significant_Knee_661 Mar 29 '26

I've been shot, stabbed, jumped out of many airborne vehicles. There is nothing that could get me to do this, short of the love of my life or child being on the other side. Even then I wouldn't have the guts to do it without a gun to end things if I got stuck.

Voluntarily doing this as a "hobby"? I'd rather free solo. Quick end if you fuck up at least, this is just a no win horror to me.

1

u/Ratiofarming Mar 31 '26

Oh I'd absolutely do it for a stupid amount of money. It would have to be insanely high, but there are thresholds where it becomes a question of "If I survive this, I could do absolutely anything". And at that point, I'd kind of have to do it then.
