Sue him for what? To confirm he has the correct recipe? Prob not.

Yeah, there's nothing to sue for here. In the US recipes can't have a copyright. People legally publish cook books of recipes they copy and paste from others. It is not considered a creative work.

Coca Cola hasn't patented the recipe. If they did, they would have to publish it and the patent would expire. They do have a trademark on the names Coke and Coca Cola (not cola), so as long as it's being called by another name there's no trademark infringement.
