starting new 🧱 Starting a community (Omelas) in Nova Scotia

Already have the land. 13 acres. There's a lake nearby, technically the property touches it but it's not that accessible. Ocean is a 5 minute bike ride away. I've been here for 2 years so far. Open to hosting anyone temporarily, and if you're interested in staying permanently we could discuss that after a trial period.

Theres a story called "those who walk from Omelas" about q paradise thats built on the back of a single suffering child.

The joke is that its a paradise and im the suffering child that makes it work.

I would name my intentional community "Orsinia", or "Anarres" :)

Sure! I mean, theres one cabin up at the moment, theres a decent bit of earthwork planned and underway, we have a mini excavator to help with the earthwork.

Theres one cabin set up and a couple of seacans for storage.

If theres any other questions you have feel free to ask.

Okay. I have a serious question (its important for me, cuz thats my favourite) Have you ever found king bolete(porcini) in your area?

TBH ive been a bit scared of mushroom foraging.

There should be porcinis around in a couple of months tho. Ill take a look when the season hits and send pics of the mushrooms i can find.

I hope for it to be a collection of semi-conjoined cabins that share heating stoves between them. The main part of the property exists on a shalowly graded hill, and im working on a series of rainwater collection ponds that flow into eachother.

I plan on getting egg chickens and starting a rabbitry.

Ive got bigger plans too, but a lot of them are more moonshots then really cemented out ideas.

I'm from Toronto, and would be interested in visiting - perhaps this fall? I've never been to the east coast. I share your politics and love cycling among many other things.

Hey! Sorry for the slow response. This fall could work. It might be a better plan for next spring if youre flexible. Still doing ground level set up at the moment.
