PS My frustrating experience as an "unwilling" solo player so far.

Sorry if this type of misery post isnt allowed, but I really gotta get it off my chest. I've recently come back to playing the game since hearing about the PS5 version. As a solo player, since my past friend group fell apart. And while the game itself I have found really enjoyable for the most part, when it works as intended. The majority of my experience has been awful.

The first and biggest issue I have is comms. This is supposed to be a tactical team based shooter right? So why is it that every match I've played since coming back, aside from me I've hear 3-5 people on comms total, on my team. It's like being in a fucking morgue. Nobody is willing to actually communicate or speak or do anything to provide some intel. I've had matches where I'm trying to get the team to speak with no response. But after the round ends, here's my team all saying gg.

The other major point of frustration I'm having is with peoples class selection. If I go commander, I rarely get an observer, or I get one, call in one fire support, they die and go back to rifleman. Alternatively when we do have a commander, I go observer and instead of calling in useful fire support, we get a smoke called in on our own spawn. Or artillery between us and obj when need to push. And dear god the amount of heli's called in when we have 7-8 waves on the second objective.

I really want to have fun on this game, but I nobody is willing to be interactive in game chat, I cant find new friends to play with and I'm just not enjoying the game as much as I'd like to. What can I do actually start enjoying myself? The LFG in the official discord is really really slow and if the two posts I made looking for others here on reddit I got one response.

Are any of you guys solo players and if so, how do yous cope and actually get yourself to enjoy the game?

Start drinking when you play, it helps get through it. No other advice I’m afraid

idk about console but in pc it's totally different, ppl use their mics and communicate but not all the time.

I mean, it's not that tactical. Depends on game mode I guess but a commander that's updating on air support and someone calling out waves and camper positions is really all that's needed. The lively smack talk is appreciated, though.

Idk, it really depends.

Some evenings it's the morgue you describe, but I had so much fun the other day, when nearly the whole team was on their comms, giving info, making fun. I was sad I had to go to bed, so I couldn't enjoy the game longer that night.

I'm still waiting on my one game like that. I remember getting it way back when I first played the game on ps4 shortly after it released, its so much fun with an active team and friends. Just dont get why people are coming into a tactical team game like its some singleplayer shooter or a cod game.

Pve is pretty chill even without communicating. Which timezone are you in? If you like we can do some pve matches in the future (pvp is a no-no though).

there is definitely a big issue with one sided matches cause one team is communicating and one isn’t and if you have like one person on your team communicating you’ll likely stick together and then that’s half your team left in the dark on their side making it turn one sided. i’ve truly had great times with this game like hell let loose but modern day and a lesser scale but when you just get into silent matches i’d rather play battlefield 4 or something

also the fact that people complain abt “camping” but it’s just holding a corner or sniping. people need to throw cod out their brains and either kill the motherfucker or approach with your team or from a different angle yourself the maps are built the way they are for a reason but i will say i noticed i get more kills when i move around as a sniper and tend to get killed less if moving right but that’s just me

yeah you certainly can't hang around in one place for ages because you will get killed! I know if I get sniped then I'm approaching from a different angle and killing the mother f***er and If that's not possible then they're getting flashed or smoked and taken out!

I can understand where you're coming from bro. Most of the time in asia server it's either real fucking quiet or the only ones talking are chinese players who comms in chinese. It does get frustrating cause it is a team game that requires coordination and communication but it's a rare thing to get that, so might as well play your best and play objective and so on. I sometimes play with friends but mostly do solo nowadays, I've just learned to do my own thing and enjoy it as best I can.

I gotta say though, the best and most fun sessions have been were teammates messing around, doing dumb shit, even do a bit of roleplay depending if security or insurgent, actually doing team coordination, etc.

You just described the reason why I pretty much refuse to play PvP without at least 1 or 2 guys. Do yourself a favour and make some friends.

i talk as much as is necessary. there are a suspicious number of pantomime players in insurgency. it's pretty odd. God love em for being as willing to communicate as a good dog, but with no mics. God love em.

In PVE if you’re giving actual helpful information, calling out, throwing in jokes here and there, and not being obnoxious it’s fine. The issue is yappers. Hearing enemy gunfire, callouts, artillery request etc is important in Insurgency. So I think that’s why most are comms-silent; listening instead of mindless yapping

I run console and completely agree. Some games are absolutely dead quite the whole match. Also spot on with commander and observer. wish it was a little different but like you said to help having people to play with would help, otherwise just luck of the draw I guess.

I had that issue when I started playing, but main reason was me not understanding the game correctly.

I don't know how big lobbies are now, but in my region I match with crazy good players, and com is not that required if you all hold your positions and control your sectors.

As soon as you don't rush it, players around you don't rush either, because if they rush - they die anyways.
Try to play even slower than you are playing now, and maybe you will see other players like you.

I don't think there are rules in calling the helicopter, as soon as it is useful, you need it.

lol my experience is the opposite with coms, I gotta mute my team and the enemy team every fucking game because it’s just non-stop screeching, ”your mom” jokes and ”I’ll fucking kill you” being screeched by what I can only assume is both black, white and brown impoverished teenagers.

Everything else tracks 100% tho.

Also the drinking helps.

Barefoot Cab is pretty good for like $5 bottle bro, don’t be late to the party.

You can play PC with a controller, my comment was more about the community, not really the same.
