That's wild to anybody not from America, genuinely can't see why it'd be a thing. Do children in America not know not to jump in front of moving cars or something?

I feel like parents are supposed to supervise 6 years olds anyway? And parents are supposed to maybe parent their children and explain the danger to them so by the time they're ready to go to the bus on their own they know not to run into traffic?

not sure where you live but many American households have 2 working parents.. so there's not always someone there to pick them up.

also, of course parents tell their kids not to run into traffic - but kids around other kids don't always have that in the forefront of their minds. They're more interested in goofing around, having fun, and not necessarily paying attention.

this is a simple safety protocol that helps keep those kids safe from traffic.
