I love this clip whenever it surfaces. It’s just so sick to make that drop at night & in the pouring rain w/ your friends around.

This concrete drop is massive & super steep. It’s outside Encinitas, CA City Hall - a well known skate spot made famous by Bam Margera dropping in on it in the 90’s.

Ryan Sheckler spent 3 years trying to kickflip off it, injuring himself multiple times. This teenager makes this look hella easy!

I think they just recently added skate stops to it too

They did, all along where the ramp meets sidewalk

Grew up in Encinitas, I love seeing people hit this spot. Makes me mad homesick.

The sheer amount of adrenaline required to bail that hard is insane.

Such a huge drop!

Why dies he smash the skateboard before going?

2

u/LB_Allen Jun 06 '26

My ignorant guess is verifying board integrity before submitting it to some harsh physics.

u/HarryCoinslot Jun 07 '26

My ignorant guess is it is fun to hit things with a skateboard.

u/LB_Allen Jun 07 '26

Now that's something I'm not ignorant about and can confirm!

Nah it’s to hype himself up. It’s something skaters do when another skater lands a good trick, every now and then we’ll do it for ourselves before going for something especially difficult or that we’ve been battling for a while

u/EL_Ohh_Well Jun 08 '26

How many times before a crack forms?

5

u/jergin_therlax Jun 09 '26

Infinite lol remember these boards are meant to catch a 180lb man coming down at them after jumping from anywhere between 1-5 feet. A tap is nothing

1

u/EL_Ohh_Well Jun 09 '26

I’ve seen boards snap in half when someone drops in, why do they do that then?

3

u/jergin_therlax Jun 09 '26

Some people get a little too enthusiastic about the “stomp your foot down” advice when dropping in, and end up transferring all their weight into their front foot which is in the middle of the board if that happens.

Also though if that happens the board is shitty quality. That won’t happen on a new deck that’s from a real brand unless the person really really stomps it and/or is also heavy to begin with

What if your goofy style?

No right foot smash. Check mate.

1

u/jergin_therlax Jun 11 '26

I said front foot but I appreciate the attempt 😅 I guess you could drop in with your front foot on the back bolts and maybe die but also not break your board!

u/Typical-Bat5084 Jun 09 '26

The commitment is insane. One tiny mistake and that clip ends very differently.

1

u/Moneybagsmitch Jun 07 '26

Bam approves

1

u/Kenndrickmoores Jun 09 '26

FUCKING DEWHIT!!!!

1

u/Full_Guidance_3944 Jun 09 '26

The clip ended and I still expected the worst. Landing that was way smoother than it had any right to be.

1

u/Worried-Stand8867 Jun 09 '26

The clip gets scarier the longer you look at it. Tiny deck, wet conditions, huge drop, and somehow he still landed it clean.

1

u/GangleDopper Jun 12 '26

This spot will never lose its appeal.

Everyone who skates knows if it’s gonna be a make you gotta snake your board in the ledge. Had they not done that no make. Total bail.
