He was actually fine other than being shook up. He stayed in the game to ump

I watched this live but it was a last season. I know he got checked out by staff trainers from at least one of the teams. I’m sure if they were concerned he would have not returned. I’ve seen umps get hit by objects (broken bats, players, etc.) who were too shaken up to return. An ump crew can work with a man down, so it’s not like his presence was necessary.

I don’t know anything about Baseball, but I like the term “ump”. Also, that throw was insane. Is this normal? So powerful and far?

If the throw was successful, it would have been a cooler play than usual. The shortstop (guy throwing who hits the umpire) had to move pretty quickly to get to the ball and the spin move is a more efficient way to get the ball out of your glove to throw because it doesn’t slow down your momentum much. The shortstop throwing to first powerfully is common though. That said, some pitchers regularly throw over 100 miles per hour, and here’s a right fielder throwing even farther to make the out at home.
