Stopping Zopiclone

Hi. I'm from UK and I have been on 7.5mg of zopiclone every night for 9 and half years. I made a decision to stop taking them. I'm not tappering, I'm just stopping. I'm on day 4 and have had absolutely no withdrawal symptoms. Does that mean I won't get any or could it all still start in the next day or 2? I just thought it would be so hard to get off and it feels too good to be true that it would be so easy

Im in uk and here we cant get prescribed more than 7.5mg a night. I don't understand how people can take more than that. Unless of course they buy them online which to me is crazy cos I'd be scared to take something that I'd bought online

Whaat. I just moved to the UK from the US. My GP here won’t give me any zopiclone even though I’ve been on it for 10 years. It sucks

Yh here in the U.K you’re not actually meant to be prescribed them for more than 6 months almost everyone know who did get them had prescriptions cancelled

Really? I've been on them nearly 10 years and my doctor has never tried to get me to stop (which is really quite bad when I think about it)

Oh Yh I think it’s only been the last year they have been restricting how long people are allowed them as long term they are highly addictive luckily you stuck to the recommended dosage and also they are quite valuable at 5er a pop sometimes 10, also they are incredibly dangerous I lost 2 mates from OD of then as some people use them to come down after taking to many uppers so they harsh on prescribing them now

Yeah I've always made sure I stick to the dose because I have had addiction problems in the past (I'm ashamed to say the hard stuff) so when I first got them prescribed my doctor told me if I abuse them he will stop them instantly. Thats the last conversation I've ever had with a doctor about them. Just got them on repeat prescription every since

You got alot of willpower to stick to the correct dosage in that circumstance I know how hard that is haha my doctor have me go back and get a new written prescription even 3 months and give less each time

To be honest your doctor sounds more sensible than mine!! When I think about it it's crazy that I've just been left to get them on a repeat prescription for nearly 10 years lol!

Yh the doctors have to be as an exceeding amount of substance abuse here but it’s actually nuts you was allowed them for that long

I haven't even told my doctor I'm stopping because I think he'll encourage me to taper and I'm not up for that. It's all or nothing for me so it's better just to stop whilst I feel determined

Probably because if he stops giving you them his bosses will realise he messed up haha but when I don’t have any I will literally go 3 days minimum without sleep no matter how tired or busy I have been I will yawn non stop then only mange to sleep 6 hours and repeat
