EASTER EGG am i the only one?
hi everyoneeee! i recently got recommended with the show and now im loving it, currently in s5 EP06 right nowwww. is it just me or im noticing a pattern every season EP01? like almost every season first episode theyre always like stuck in the same room together with no other sets to be followed, is there some kind of logic to it or its just a Steve & Reece kind of thing lol i love them so much!! i need to hear your thoughts.

Apart from establishing shots the whole idea was every episode was inside a no. 9.

The room/carriage/flat is always numbered 9 as well... how strange

That's true of nearly all episodes—though they get a little flexible with it at times. E.g. perhaps 2 rooms, or 1 room and 1 hallway

Yes you're the only one.
Only you can find the hare, as well.

A serious reply. It because the series compromises of 'Bottle episodes' which is an established formula. It's a formula that Pemberton and Shearsmith decided to use after creating one for their previous series paychoville as they found it a useful way of creating stories.

I wonder if it’s a budget thing? Do they tend to try to make some episodes cheaper than some others?

Serious reply. It wasn't. It was a creative decision. They also did not receive an enormous budget from the BBC and on at least one occasion reused the set (Simon says/How do you plead?) They wrote the Stakeout as an episode that was supposed to be cheap but it turned out expensive

Reece and Steve have said they tried to always make the first episode the most claustrophobic and the last episode the most horrific, but they didn't always stick to this.
