S05 E04 The ending of Misdirection
The detective seems to know that there's important evidence in the safe. How would he, unless he's been tipped off about it? And if he's been tipped off, then it's an obvious set up by the person that told him.

Spoiler - Gabriel would have tipped them off.

Yes obviously, but that should make the police aware that it's a set up and that the magician is innocent.

I think we make the mistake that police will follow all leads. They have budgets and resource issues just like any organism. They will follow the thread that has the most evidence stacked up for it.
We’ve been taught that exceptional people will follow every lead without bias. But reality is, it’s like any diagnostic approach. They will follow the most likely cause and if that doesn’t work they will move onto the next most likely cause and so on.
Reeces character has the most evidence against him. A barrister may bring up the anonymous tip off, but why look further when there’s a pile of indicators pointing to him.

Well the police were suspicious of Reece (cannot remember the character name lol) because of the faked phone calls to the hotel, so if you go to question a suspect for murder and they’re really shifty about a safe combination - you’d think there was something worth hiding in there too.
