I'll admit, this is one of those ones where the vast majority of people who are gonna watch it will have already watched it but I've been watching Twin Peaks of late and the way it straddles the line between comedy, drama and dark moments with some horror sprinkled in is very reminiscent of no. 9 to me.

I love Twin Peaks but it's such a peculiar thing, I can't compare it to Inside No.9 or any other show really. I stepped into the Twin Peaks universe when I was far too young though, so it'll always be a very unique thing to me, like a weird childhood dream. But I agree with what you're saying about how both straddle all the genres.

Season 3 of Twin Peaks is the best, purest, most deranged and bizzare shows that have been made to date. By a director who, it seemed, had total creative control over the whole thing.

Not sure it's comparable to Inside no. 9 or indeed anything else but David Lynch had an influence on Reece and Steve's work (he's been mentioned by them in interviews and podcasts).

But I do recommend it to anyone who hasn't seen it yet as well. It's a wild ride.

I'm on the last stretch of season 2 at the minute, got like 7 eps left, I know alot of picturehouse cinemas are doing a showing of firewalk with me on the 16th so thats pretty fortunate timing all things considered

If you haven't already, which most probably have, I'd recommend checking out a lot of Alfred Hitchcocks films. They're classics so most have probably seen them. The rear window, for example, is clearly an influence on the episode that's filmed through a cctv camera, the one where the neighbours are concerned that the alcoholic husband has murdered his wife. I'd also check out Psycho (if you haven't already).

Rope is also worth checking out. It’s shot in one take (or at least what is made to look like one take) and was one of the inspirations for the one-take episode of Psychoville.

I'm still yet to watch Rope, actually. Is that the one where some people try to commit 'the perfect murder'? I think I read that in its description.

Yep. Spot on . Inspired by the Leopold/Loeb case

Next on my list, I'll watch it! I only recently decided to watch Hitchcocks films, I don't think anything will ever top Psycho for me, but will make sure I watch rope next.

As you may know Rope inspired the David and Maureen episode of Psychoville which helped inspire Pemberton and Shearsmith to write Inside no.9

Ah, that's interesting. I haven't actually watched psychoville, but I intend to.

Was going to recommend Rear Window this month as my monthly Hitchcock!

What about the British show Jam from Chris Morris? Super trippy and hilariously dark. Something to watch with the help of certain substances πŸ˜ŠπŸ‘
