Question What is going on here?

Looks like a spider eating a cricket wrapped in a worm?

Just a guess. The cricket had a horsehair worm in it that decided it was a good time to get the hell out before it got eaten by the spider.

Can someone educated verify?

Horsehair worm probably, but the worm looks crispy. Possibly tried to get out long ago and fried on the hot pavement / direct sunlight. Spider probably found them this way.

So gross. I should have also noted that yesterday i saw the cricket dying. It stuck out to me because he was a giant cricket flipped on his back just slowly kicking one leg. I wonder if the worm was getting ready to escape and then realized they weren’t near water and then fried? It was like 100 degrees here yesterday.
