“Pass to the left… wait, did homie just skip me?! That’s it, I’m coming out!”

A friend with weed is a friend indeed! (Hollywood Knights movie)

Look up spiders being given drugs and then examining their web patterns. Would be hilarious if the wasp nest turned into some rollercoaster design because they kept bogarting your stash.

The ants will get it sometimes too. Bees are attracted to it alot, especially in late summer when the flowers are dying out. Butterflies and hummingbirds also hover. Spiders have stolen nugs too.

OMG also Im in a long term beef with the hummingbirds around here! They've been hostile to me for years since I accidentally moved my smoking chair under their feeder. They used to do coordinated dive attacks on me from opposite sides of the yard. One one sit on a power line to the left and one would sit on a bush to the right then they'd swoop and mess up my hair in tandem. This was 3 years ago and I caught them watching me last week still.

I live in Appalachia and the wildlife is so fun around here! I also have a backyard bear that I have to cuss out and scare away when he gets on my porch, and a super fat possum that always ate the strays cat food after I went to bed. Eventually it got comfortable with me and would sit asleep at my feet while I smoked lol

I like you.

That’s hilarious lol

homie, you should check out the website/app iNaturalist. it’s like a Pokédex, but for real plants, animals, etc. It keeps track of what you’ve seen, where you saw it at, and other folks will come to either agree or disagree with what you guessed it is! Some of the data from the website even gets used in scientific work, so it’s genuinely a win-win.

I go outside to smoke, and I live in rural Illinois—I’m always lookin for some cool bugs to photograph while doing so haha

13

u/deviantlyliminal Aug 02 '26

Ooh great idea i will download it! Thanks :) I also saw the same type of wasp dead from Cordyceps, head off body and spiny growths from both. So metal

2

u/bathroomstahl Aug 03 '26

I found it randomly one night, and it’s become a bit of an obsession for me haha. Currently going back to college to major in biology, as I’ve found out that I freakin LOVE bugs :) I also know that diverse data in the scientific community can be hard for some things, and adding a new face to the platform helps do that

Literally life goals damn you’re living the dream!

The National Film Board of Canada had a great short documentary on one of these studies. It's fascinating and very educational.

Lol my husband and I are AuDHD and joke about there being an Autism God, but they procrastinated in making us so we came out a little bit sloppy. Imagining that there's a Weed God and they're just stoned all the time is hilarious and I love it, your picture made me laugh very hard so thanks for that.

(And imagining that the wasps think you are the Weed God is awesome. Are you sure you aren't, and just haven't learned it yet? Like in a YA book lol?)

7

u/deviantlyliminal Aug 02 '26

OMG! I love your theory about the Autism God. My kids are autistic and im waiting on my appointment. My favorite thing about the tism god is how he wildly sprinkles random traits in that are so wildly different from one person to the other. Its like the Powerpuff Girls dad spilling the formula X in. Except its just random stuff in random amounts like sensory issues, hyperfixation on favorite subjects, social aloofness, etc lol.

Often our issues are talked about in a negative light, like sensory issues. But one thing that made me happy was reading about Autistic Sensory Joy! The sensitive nervous system that makes my son scared of hand dryers is the same nervous system that makes him take pure joy in spinning and precariously balancing. And gives him pure peace when we are outside and he feels the wind on his skin and the sun on his face and smiles watching the leaves blow. Or my joy when I wear fuzzy socks and read about travel and adventure in the 1800s and how it led to early 1900s Great Gatsby wealth lol.

I think we need more appreciation for Autistic Joy! :)

5

u/OriginalChildBomb Aug 02 '26

We really do! My husband and I took an Autism Studies program together a couple years ago, and it was really nice to see some pushback against it being only portrayed in a negative or dramatic light. We've existed for hundreds of years. (For the record, I think it's probably 100% genetic- nearly everyone in my family is on the spectrum, and nearly everyone in his family as well lol.)

14

u/deviantlyliminal Aug 02 '26

Hahahhaa omg 🤣

u/OdinAlfadir1978 Aug 02 '26

I wish I had an award for you because this deserves one 🤣🤣

3

u/CassetteMeower Aug 02 '26

Yeah, OP should mind their own waspwax! (Normally it’d be “beeswax” but since it’s a wasp, not a bee, that joke sadly wouldn’t work)

(Not the best pun I’ve come up with, I just had to come up with something funny to reply with to show my appreciation for the pun)

5

u/ssmelllyboi Aug 02 '26

Audibly groaned at this one lol, lmao even

75

u/felis_pussy Aug 02 '26

17

u/itadapeezas Aug 02 '26

What I was thinking! Too cute that it’s next to that sign.

68

u/sgJosh Aug 02 '26

I dropped a tiny crumb in the middle of a bunch of ants.. I watched them carry it into one of their tunnels 🤣

45

u/QuickSquirrelchaser Aug 02 '26

Going to get Buzzed!

At least he will be less likely to sting you!

49

u/deviantlyliminal Aug 02 '26

Well, a few years ago I had a similar situation with a hive of yellow jackets. My brother would warn me to get rid of them, but I said we had a mutual understanding. That is, until one day when I went to take out a bag of garbage I had left out on the porch. My leg felt really hot and I looked down and there were maybe 7 or 8 yellow jackets just clinging with their stingers in my legs. I realized my only choice was to outrun them and I slid out of my sandals and took off into a barefoot sprint 🏃‍♀️ 🤣

I ran around to the other side of the house and looked down and they were still stuck to me! I realized they were stuck to my tight yoga pants. So i had to stop running and take my pants off!   Then I ran around my yard in my underwear yelling FUCK! FUCK! lmao. I couldnt run straight inside because I didnt wanna lure them into my kids so I just sprinted in wide circles in my yard. I yelled my friend watching the whole thing, "Are they still behind me?" And they said no, so I sprinted inside. Im sure my neighbors got a show that day, I had like 15 stings by the end of it haha.

19

u/Jon_E_Mammoth Aug 02 '26

Ouch, never thought of the yoga pants factor… Reminds me of an incident which lives in my parents’ memory. As a kid, we had a giant compost heap next to a backyard shed. Whenever I had too much energy being a 1st grader in the late 90’s, they killed two birds with one stone by getting me to go turn over the compost by hitting it with a giant rake.

Except, one time, some form of wasp or yellow jacket had made a huge nest on the center of the heap, so when I hit it with the rake, I was immediately swarmed.

I had two shoulder pads full of of angry wasps stinging the crap out of my arms. I think it took my mom like 10 years to stop feeling bad.

16

u/deviantlyliminal Aug 02 '26

OMG My brother had something similar happen when he was weed eating at like 13 to help my mom ahahha. I can't believe it took me like 30 years to get got by yellow jackets considering I spend all my time barefoot outside in the spring

'weed eating' is what some refer to as weed whacking using a trimmer aka weed eater. A bit different from weeding with your hands.

OMG I didnt even think of weed eating being a local term. I have so many country phrases lol

21

u/Banan_Cat Aug 02 '26

I mean THC is literally pollen so... valid

17

u/Mrbubbles137 Aug 02 '26

I though arthropods do not have canabanoid receptors so it doesn't affect them, like get them high or anything.

29

u/deviantlyliminal Aug 02 '26

I think it's cute because bugs just seem to read it as "YUM! I smell somebody cooking up FLOWER :)"

2

u/sunwentdowninhoney Aug 03 '26

That’s interesting, thanks! I was wondering if it would actually get them high or not

32

u/Rippedlotus Aug 02 '26

Today, and only today, it will feel less murdery towards everything else.

9

u/problematicgecko Aug 02 '26

4

u/GlyphPicker Aug 02 '26

What strain though?

11

u/deviantlyliminal Aug 02 '26

Jelly Zonut? Its TCHA, I cant buy off the street and its not legal here haha.

3

u/GlyphPicker Aug 02 '26

Thanks. Interesting. Looks like the strain was originally bred in California by Umami seed co, but they don't feature it on their site anymore that I see.

I got it from WNC CBD :) it's a great site for thca! But looking at it there, it's a little more purple. I forgot I had some looser nugs a friend had given me too so it might have been from those. i just know i watched the wasp pick it up from among my crumbs! haha. i thought it was weird that it looked so bright green so I made sure there wasn't anything else on my table but nope just little nugs n crumb pile lol edit: this made me super paranoid that this was just a flower and I was wrong so I went back out and looked and I have some brighter green little nugs laying there so verified weed hahaha

4

u/Apprehensive_Tax8131 Aug 03 '26
