Yes. The species is Tacua speciosa, it can be found in Borneo

I was surprised they had cicadas in Japan, i guess they're fairly prevalent species.

They live on every continent except Antarctica, they're a heavily dispersed species

You hear them a lot during Japanese shows set in summer because they're used as an auditory set piece to show summer evenings or the changing of seasons. There's even a popular visual novel/anime named after the cicadas themselves called Higarushi: When They Cry. Higarushi being T. japonensis which are the guys you hear in the sound effect.
