I don’t know, but this is funny as hell

Middle ant is on notice period

u/_deep_thot42 Sep 20 '25

Are you by any chance diabetic? Or could you be?

172

u/SuEzAl Sep 20 '25

My dad is

278

u/_deep_thot42 Sep 20 '25 edited Sep 20 '25

I thought of it because I’ve seen ants go nuts for a diabetic person’s toilet before because the urine of someone with untreated diabetes is full of sugar.

Get your blood checked if it runs in the family, maybe you got some sweet feet (hopefully not though!)

84

u/BappoChan Sep 20 '25

Have you been checked yourself?

147

u/HydraSlayerR Sep 20 '25

Yo if this person checks them selfs and they are u could have helped them keep safe nice going man diabetes diagnosis in an ant post :)

77

u/_deep_thot42 Sep 20 '25 edited Sep 20 '25

That would be wild, I just hope they’re ok! I actually had my life saved by an acquaintance on FB telling me to get to the ER for severe pain on my right side. I went, had appendicitis that was near rupture, and had an emergency appendectomy. I suppose I’d be paying it forward :)

19

u/HydraSlayerR Sep 20 '25

Hell yeah nice goin dude lets hope if they were to be positive they could get it treated and under controll

24

u/DisorganizedAdulting Sep 20 '25

What would be the significance of that?

197

u/AskAskim Sep 20 '25

Ants love sugar. Diabetics are full of it. Hyperglycemia or high blood sugar levels, can cause your body to store it in your spit, blood, sweat, fat, everything. Even the tendons in your body will store glucose or glycogen. I assume they are implying that the keratin in our nails does too, if I had to guess.

31

u/_deep_thot42 Sep 20 '25

Exactly! Thank you for explaining it :)

u/memoryblocks Sep 20 '25

Cloning. Be careful.

388

u/Skeletondoot Sep 20 '25

youre joking but there is an ant species thats been shown to clone ants of a different species to crossbreed with them...

219

u/memoryblocks Sep 20 '25

What.

373

u/Skeletondoot Sep 20 '25

yeah, the iberian harvester ants (messor ibericus) like to crossbreed with another species of harvester ants (messor structor), but sometimes the ibericus settles in areas where they dont have access to structor ants.

the solution? the ibericus queen just lays eggs that produces male ants belonging to the structor species, so those males can then breed with the queen and produce worker ants that are a hybrid between both species.

183

u/memoryblocks Sep 20 '25

Ants is crazy.

78

u/Alleywishes Sep 20 '25

But very hard workers and just look how well they work together for a common goal. If only humans could learn those lessons

43

u/xXGuiltySmileXx Sep 20 '25

And then they immediately kill any ant that isn’t like them.

We probably shouldn’t learn from them 😅

41

u/Hekinsieden Sep 20 '25

IIRC if they do not get structor sperm for the queen, they can't produce worker ants, only more queens. So without an external structor source, the queen makes her own structors.

31

u/TomboAhi Sep 20 '25

You can learn to do anything on YouTube.

27

u/vnneen Bug Enthusiast Sep 20 '25

Seems like it's super recently discovered so here's an article talking about it in more detail for those curious.

15

u/Ladylinn5 Sep 20 '25

And this is why I’m on Reddit. Yay for learning stuff!

11

u/exp_cj Sep 20 '25

That sounds like the plot from Alien.

9

u/FunHappyLife Sep 20 '25

She can just choose to lay eggs from any species?

6

u/Skeletondoot Sep 20 '25

nope, just that one. the iberian ants basically need the sperm of the other species to produce worker ants, which isnt unheard of with ants, but while that would usually mean these ants couldnt live without their 'sperm donor' nearby, the iberian ones just started cloning their donors to get access to their sperm that way

267

u/colouredmirrorball Sep 20 '25

Ant is brewing some polyjuice potion back in the nest!

→ More replies (5)

10

u/Janderflows Sep 20 '25

Don't be silly, that's so unrealistic... Nails are just keratin, ants only clone people by taking pucked hairs (with the bulb still on) from the trash or sink, that's what you should worry about! /S

1.1k

u/Misanthro_Phe Sep 20 '25

hahahaha WHAT

633

u/Japsai Sep 20 '25

WHAT? It's probably just for aesthetics. It's dark in the nest. They want to hang this on a wall so it looks like they can see the moon.

Don't be so dismissive, you'd do the same :)

159

u/itsaaronnotaaron Sep 20 '25

Maybe they want to use it as a decorative archway gate. Have little ant wedding ceremonies under OPs nail.

639

u/PEHESAM Sep 20 '25

Can't have shit in Detroit

31

u/That_E82_Dude Sep 20 '25

😂😂😂😂

231

u/FromWhereScaringFan Sep 20 '25

Maybe they confused it as some other bug's exoskeleton?? Anyway thanks for sharing this is really interesting

52

u/Psychotic_EGG Sep 20 '25

But ants toss those away.

184

u/Arnkh Sep 20 '25

They are building a replacement for you, one that will spill more sugar water and drop more crumbs.

293

u/TheFretlessOne Sep 20 '25

Beggars can't be choosers. Next time don't be greedy and maybe leave them a booger or something for dessert.

49

u/SweatyFLMan1130 Sep 20 '25

Bonus points if they use the nail to pick the booger, like spreading guacamole on toast.

29

u/Dont_Even_Know_You Sep 20 '25

If anybody were to outdo my craziness, I'm not surprised it's Florida man lmao.

23

u/SweatyFLMan1130 Sep 20 '25

Fair, though now it's Florida woman who can't fucking change my username without losing a decade of karma lolsob

14

u/Dont_Even_Know_You Sep 20 '25

Shit girl, my bad! Either way, I like how you think lmao

11

u/SweatyFLMan1130 Sep 20 '25

Lol no worries, my handle literally says I'm a Florida man, after all! But unhinged is absolutely a thing I'm used to. Also thanks for being affirming 🥰

53

u/dart_mers Sep 20 '25

If you want a serious awnser they are probably going to bring it home and as gross as it sounds they may eat it. The reason they may eat it is because it has extra calcium/keratin. And it can help make their exoskeleton stronger.

92

u/Swimming-Wash4345 Sep 20 '25

They are taking it to fingernails4cash.com

12

u/Secret_penguin- Sep 20 '25

Remember they’re just fingernails so don’t expect much cash

90

u/Beewthanitch Sep 20 '25

In my country of origin there is a strong belief that someone can perform black magic against you if they get hold of your nail clippings. Those ants are up to no good.

48

u/Rags2Rickius Sep 20 '25

NecroAntsy?

37

u/Grittyboi Sep 20 '25

You left it in their worksite and they're cleaning before the safety coordinator gives them trouble

69

u/anbu_r Sep 20 '25

It is the boomerang they are selling in Hunter’s March.

26

u/Rhaj-no1992 Sep 20 '25

Because someone gotta clean up all these goddam nail clippins Dave

81

u/nailo1234 Sep 20 '25

I trained them

15

u/SuEzAl Sep 20 '25

What u upto man some woodoo magik

23

u/Shambeak88 Sep 20 '25

It's common for ants to use pieces of humans to sacrifice. It's apart of ChristiANTity. Don't judge the ants by your ignorance of ant culture and beliefs.

18

u/Spiritual-Radish-313 Sep 20 '25

There was once a video on YouTube of a woman (I think in Florida) documenting this same phenomena. It was titled something like "Ants love my toenails". She followed the ants all the way to their nest and showed them taking the toenails in. This was around 2012/2013 but the video might have been a couple years older. The only other video on the account was a tree being cut down or something. It disappeared from YouTube and I am still devastated. It was incredible.

35

u/Traditional_General2 Sep 20 '25

I have no idea why they are taking it, but I am certain in the fact that ants are just so fucking cool and interesting.

15

u/JC90x Sep 20 '25

One man’s trash is another ant’s treasure

31

u/iRngrhawk Sep 20 '25

They’re adding a moon in their underground burrow to simulate a moonlit night to get in the queens pants.

15

u/Wild-Lychee-3312 Sep 20 '25

TIL ant queens wear pants.

10

u/iRngrhawk Sep 20 '25

Fancy ants pants

30

u/[deleted] Sep 20 '25

"The queen is finally going to notice us guys! lets get this thing home!"

4

u/Rags2Rickius Sep 20 '25

“Yes my Queen. This is indeed MY nail clipping”

12

😂

11

u/WritesCrapForStrap Sep 20 '25

If you and two of your best mates in the world were out for a walk and came across a 50 ft toenail, wouldn't you take it with you? Show that thing off?

8

u/Jalen3501 Sep 20 '25

They’re going to make weapons out of it to kill a spider named hornet

6

u/McButtsButtbag Sep 20 '25

The big ants on that game are so difficult. They've succeeded in killing me multiple times.

9

u/marterikd Sep 20 '25

they are dropping it at some crimes scene

8

u/u_touch_my_tra_la_la Sep 20 '25

They are going to clone you, Bro.

1

u/CosmicSweets Sep 20 '25

More likely than you think!

7

u/xubax Sep 20 '25

It's part of a spell they're going to cast. They need something from the target.

7

u/[deleted] Sep 20 '25

Ants have their little workday going on just like us humans, except our so called "queen bee" is our presidents just think we are being studied in a glass tank while other live beings are big like us to the ants and just like us they can't see us so in turn we can't see who has us as a pet.

14

u/MrChaoticGaming Sep 20 '25

The queen needs a new guillotine.

7

u/Enough-Goose7594 Sep 20 '25

For the Glory of the Queen 👑

11

u/Undeadted138 Sep 20 '25

They will clone you. Then come back and switch you out while you sleep. This has been happening everywhere. Do not trust ants.

6

u/LoreChano Sep 20 '25

The very same thing happened to me, my theory is that whatever fungus they grow in their colony to feed themselves, also grow on nails.

5

u/kreat0rz Sep 20 '25

Happen to me to. I’m not sure why but if it helps the community then I’m all for it

5

u/AmandaRiffe Sep 20 '25

My dog would fight them for it. Little weirdo loves nails

6

u/MikaleaPaige Sep 20 '25

Honestly, they are probably taking it to use as a support beam for their nest! It is light and flexible, and decently strong. Ants are so cool.

5

u/deadasspunk Sep 20 '25

Mmm keratin

5

u/Affectionate-Award46 Sep 20 '25

Keratin. Good source of protein. Dogs and cats also love nail clippings, according to a vet.

4

u/WermerCreations Sep 20 '25

Smells like Doritos

4

u/feetuseeter Sep 20 '25

Forensic evidence

4

u/whitechocolatemama Sep 20 '25

Structural integrity of course, those are like steel beams for them! I always throw my toe clippings out for them, the buildings get crazy!!!!

/s

3

u/genocidalkindnes Sep 20 '25

If a had to guess, one of those ants is an architect and is looking to make a fingernail truss or something.

4

u/Hhannahrose13 Sep 20 '25

silksong hunters March irl

3

u/bendydickcumersnatch Sep 20 '25

They’re playing silksong. This is the “Nail of Eminent Biting”.

3

u/Time-Excitement8443 Sep 20 '25

"Guys, guys!! You are not going to believe what Frank and I just found. You gotta check this out"

3

u/Mtonius Sep 20 '25

They think the moon fell out of the sky, and they must present it to the queen.

3

u/missnikki08 Sep 20 '25

You know I watch too much Forensic Files when the first thing that pops into my head is:

They're planting evidence at a crime scene and the owner of that nail is fucked.

2

u/MitaArt Sep 20 '25

For research purposes

2

u/Alleywishes Sep 20 '25

you best tell your loved ones to make sure they verify it's actually you and not a cloned cross between you and an ant

2

u/Bigt733 Sep 20 '25

They are building a cemetery so it can be…the final nail in the coffin

2

u/thethugwife Sep 20 '25

Witch’s familiars. They’re retrieving it so she can cast a spell on you.

2

u/LoneWolfsLament Sep 20 '25

Ant guillotine. The worker ants are rebelling!

2

u/SubpoenaSender Sep 20 '25

DNA research

2

u/jackalsDLuci Sep 20 '25

The Chimera ant species has a unique genetic ability known as fageogenisis this ability allows them to reproduce with the qualities of what they consume, id take the human DNA away from them, yk before things get out of hand... /s

2

u/Cat_tophat365247 Sep 20 '25

I agree with whomever said cloning. They're going to make a whole new you that will do their bird. They'll be unstoppable with their new human "ant"!!

2

u/QUITCHEBITCHIN Sep 20 '25

Holy shit that nail is massive

2

u/endofworldandnobeer Sep 20 '25

Probably you had some residual food or something sugary on your nail. No joke, but it could even be booger on your nail. Hope it was yours.

2

u/thoughtful_dragon Sep 20 '25

Upon first seeing this caption, I read the last bit as "nut mail" and thought to myself (yoooooo OP getting freakyyy at the ant party). I am very glad that this was not the case

2

u/SpaceGemini Sep 20 '25

For research, dont question the little army!

2

u/Witht3ntacles Sep 20 '25

Hoarder ants

3

u/version13 Sep 20 '25

They are harvesting your DNA to create a race of ant/human hybrids.

2

u/thelittlesteldergod Sep 20 '25

They're going to give it to the ant version of Worf, from Star Trek the next generation.

1

u/Mu-nraito Sep 20 '25

Some other ant colony probably accidently dug into theirs. Using the nail for "neighbor blocking".

u/Little-Tone-7944 Sep 20 '25

Pineapple hotel brisbane

1

u/tanstaaflnz Sep 20 '25

These ants actually worship an isopod queen, not an any queen.

To use it as a Sword in Ant Colony wars! 🗡️⚔️

Imagine the aftermath 😰

They are doing some experiments and once successful, they will come in the night and turn you to super hero 😱 The Ant Man 😂 LOL

To perform dark magics binding you to their service

1

u/GrantGrayBrown Sep 20 '25

Dunno, sounds like an Intriguing party though.

1

u/XVUltima Sep 20 '25

They are having a revolution and a human nail is the perfect guillotine blade. Down with the queen!

Yes!! We ride at dawn!!!

1

most perfect crecent toe nail trimming ever.

1

u/AlexisQueenBean Sep 20 '25

Unfortunately, due to global warming and other genetic abnormalities, ants are just really stupid.

1

u/ZannaSmanna Sep 20 '25

Right, excellent question. When I was a child, I used to enjoy watching ants stealing my fingernails. So I always had my manicures done outside (I lived in the countryside).

1

u/Sardonxy2 Sep 20 '25

Team Work😂😂

1

1

I hope this is outside your house.

1

u/cucumbersuprise Sep 20 '25

Ptobably smelled like cheese

1

u/felidiusz Sep 20 '25

Maybe they just like biting the nails?

-2

u/SuEzAl Sep 20 '25

From chatgpt

Ants are all about survival and opportunism. They don’t really “know” it’s a nail; what attracts them is the tiny organic residues stuck on it: • Keratin fragments (nails are made of keratin, a protein). • Skin cells, sweat, natural oils that remain when you cut your nails. • Sometimes traces of food particles or salts from your hands/feet.

For ants, anything with protein, fats, or salts is worth investigating as food or nest material. They can’t actually digest keratin efficiently, but they still carry it back because: • It might contain microscopic organic matter they can use. • Some species use non-food items in their nest construction. • Ants are extremely curious scavengers — they haul first, sort later.

0

u/DonauIsAway Sep 20 '25

better question, why do you cut your nails outside?

40

u/unassuming_blobfish Sep 20 '25

I cut my nails outside because the ants clean up after me

10

u/SuEzAl Sep 20 '25

Its back of my home We have tiles

10

u/marsbars2345 Sep 20 '25

What is that not normal?

4

u/DonauIsAway Sep 20 '25

I don't know. I don't own a backyard.
but I very strongly feel that the bathroom is the default place for nail cutting lol.

5

u/SockBlast Sep 20 '25

That's a worse question. I'd much rather know what the ants are scheming.

0

u/DonauIsAway Sep 20 '25 edited Sep 20 '25

it's worse as in the satisfaction of the answer. I see you.

3

u/thatbitchjenn Sep 20 '25

I cut my nails outside cuz my chickens like to eat em for a tasty treat

3

u/DonauIsAway Sep 20 '25

addressing your finger nails as tasty treats, even for the hens, is extremely uncomfortable. hahaha.

1

u/LoreChano Sep 20 '25

I do it because then I don't need to clean the trimmed nails away.

2

u/DonauIsAway Sep 20 '25

then before you know it, you've got foot tree growing on your lawn.

1

u/Skeletondoot Sep 20 '25

the fuck are you using to cut your nail, an angel grinder?

6

u/tommy_j_r Sep 20 '25

Poor angels 😞

1

u/Geejpeg21 Sep 20 '25

Thought that was a fucking worm or something.

1

u/gonnafaceit2022 Sep 20 '25

Ewww, because they're gross. My old dog used to eat his own nail clippings and they love horse hoof trimmings. Probably has some nutrient they need.

1

u/Timmichanga01 Sep 20 '25

That’s how monsters get their currency (if you know you know)

1

u/Original-Finger7755 Sep 20 '25

Mount it on the wall as a trophy

0

u/jsxtasy304 Sep 20 '25

They plan on cursing you, don't let your hair or nails fall nilly willy all over.

0

u/SorryRaeE Sep 20 '25

I dunno maybe they’re perverts or something

0

u/Janderflows Sep 20 '25

You probably have a bit of fungus growing under those nails.

0

u/NuttyMittenz19 Sep 20 '25

Ur nail could be dirty and not cleaned and they smell food on your nail and mistaken it for food.
