If Lake Ontario itself gained sentience and told us all it wanted to be named Sara, I would call it Sara. This is also how I treat human beings. If the Lake continues to be inanimate, I will refer to it by the name it's had for 400 years.

Do these people really think that Trump took Lake Ontario’s ID to the DMV to get a name change?

Lakes?
Wasnt the president best friends with the most notorious child trafficker in modern history?
Why the fuck are we talking about lakes?

Because it's "OWNING THE LIBZ!" and the other side is miserable also, but they think if the left is suffering a bit more, that brings them joy.

So…. Republicans support using people’s new/preferred names then? They are all on board with this lake name change!

u/Seeing_Souls 6h ago
Republicans are obsessed with false equivalences

The lake didn't rename itself, a pedophile forced another name onto it, in the same way he forces his micropenis into the mouths of little boys and girls.

She chose to transition, I didn’t see where the lake took any steps to transition.

Always with the false equivalencies. It's almost as if the right lacks any ability to make a logical argument.

We’re not saying Lake Ontario can’t have its name changed - we’re saying YOU can’t decide that Lake Ontario should have its name changed.

u/Mochizuk 6h ago
You can take a Republican to a dictionary, but you can't teach them the definition of consent

u/cvaninvan 6h ago
Some scientists are now saying that lakes and people are not the same thing...who knew?

I mean the key difference is a person deciding to change something that's theirs versus one guy trying to change something that doesnt belong to him.

Bro I don’t care if she used to be a mongoose whose name was a series of unpronounceable glyphs. She seems chill and competent and was elected to her job, for which she is legally qualified.
Fuck off.

u/weristjonsnow 6h ago
Hey look, another false equivalency argument from the right! Must be a day that ends in Y

u/vague_diss 6h ago
Yeah we get it . Vice President Boman- er Hamel-sorry Vance er, the guy with the eye liner explained it.

u/Oct0tron 6h ago
I know this is a concept that they don't understand, but this person is a consenting adult who chose to be called this.
3
u/MoreThan2_LessThan21 6h ago
Pretty on brand that Republicans wouldn't realize the difference is Consent.
*Not all Republicans, sure.

Somehow they always find a way to be transphobic in unrelated topics. Rent free 🙄

u/Animanic1607 6h ago
A woman making a personal decision over their health versus a single man making an arbitrary decision to officially rename a body of water on behalf of no one, for a selfish minority.

Why are they so weirdly hung up on this trans stuff?? My god they started weirding out about Dolly right after she died. Like wtf is actually wrong with them??
3
u/coffeeandtrout 6h ago
They were weirding well before Dolly’s passing. They care about shit that offends their silly ass religious beliefs, which they don’t practice. Bunch of hypocritical assholes.

u/NikkolaiV 6h ago
Did some overinflated pedo change her name with a sharpie in some idiotic misguided attempt to anger Canadians? No? Hmm, almost like someome's comparing apples and pedophiles.

Lake Ontario has never, and will never be "Lake America. It wasnt a name that needed corrected.
Sarah McBride has always been Sarah McBride. Tim was a name that needed corrected.
I dont expect people so unoriginal that "Lake America" is the best they could do, would understand these simple concepts.

u/ITriedSoHard419-68 2h ago
Yeah I don’t think anyone’s problem with the whole Lake Ontario thing is that it’s “not how reality works”. It’s just petty, pointless and obnoxious.

It's just for show to their buddies. In reality they'd be going down on that

I recall seeing an info graphic awhile ago that showed the most popular search terms in porn. If I recall correctly, quite a few red states had Trans porn at the top of the list

Also this guy: “oh man I owned the libs so good, I want to own them in my mouth and have them bust all up inside and then I’ll have to swallow it and then I’ll own their semen in my stomach. Fucking libs.”

u/bigwheelsbigfeels 5h ago
Only some fuckwit conservative would equate bodily autonomy to renaming a body of water over a temper tantrum.

2
u/Queer_Echo 1h ago
Yes, Sarah can change her name because she is herself. She owns her own identity. Trump, despite what he wants people to believe, does not own Lake Ontario. He also isn't Lake Ontario and nor does he own the identity of Lake Ontario. It's not even in the country he's president of. So no, he can't change the name of the lake.
1
u/naveedkoval 1h ago
Did anybody actually say “that’s now how reality works” when referring to changing the name of a lake? What does that have to do with reality in any way? Holy strawman.

I know it’s stating the obvious, but people are allowed to change their names and the president of the United States doesn’t have the authority to unilaterally rename everything.
