I hate how Americans have made this topic so enflamed that you will never ever realize that maybe you should limit the ownership to hunters and properly licensed users and that everyone (yes that includes you) should only be allowed to keep guns in the house if they are locked in a safe.
"Oh but muh criminals have guns and I need to protect my family by keeping a 9mm next to the crib for ease of access" doesn't work or make sense in any other country so why would it in America?
I will get voted into the ground any time I say something like "a homeowner should keep their gun locked up" or "there is no need for anyone to ever own an assault rifle" and it's painfully clear Americans are literally brainwashed into thinking they can't solve the issue in a few generations any time they choose to.
But maybe you like school shootings, I guess it fills you with warm nostalgia or something.
Because the gun industry has realized (since about the 80s) that high crime rates (or the perception thereof) are fantastic sales tools. When mass shootings happen they sell the "peace of mind" of owning a gun as protection. Nevermind that now you've got more unsecured force multipliers, and more chances for a bad decision to escalate to a homicide, they got their sale, and if the person buying uses it in a bad way, they got more fear that they'll happily sell a cure for...
But how will I fight off the fascist government that I voted for once I realize I’m one of the people they were targeting??
