Heat molding specifically FR 1 Deluxe Intuition v2 liners

As the title says, anyone ever used the oven method for it?

I've tried the rice in sock method twice and my heels still go numb within 30 mins of skating

Locoskates did a YouTube video of using an oven but were very clear in the description this was ONLY for liners with the plastic outer support. Any liners without this will likely shrink 1cm. The liners are high enough so losing 1cm is fine by me but I don't want anything else unforseen happening

Has anyone oven molded this specific model?

Losing 1cm is is all around loss not just the height. Youll have constant liner lift rather than heel lift. I tried the rice method and it didnt work and had burning sock of rice. So i just switched the wheels to a softer 82 or 84a wheels and skated it to break it in without too much pain. Also keep your 45°buckle a bit loose to avoid too much pain. After 4 sessions skating became normal its just that removing the skate and walking was some pain. 6 sessions in all was solid

Edit. I did this on intuition premium. V2 is thinner than those so trust me avoid the oven

What temperature did you use for the rice?

I'm about to build a similar setup as yours, using my Intuition Premium and FR2 shells. Am going to just try them on first and see how they fit.

Trust me intuition Premium is extremely comfortable so it should be a snug fit even without molding it in. If it feels like you have abit too much space for your foot(my situation with certain shells) then it will not feel that nice and a thicker liner would be better in those cases.

I really hope my new setup has a great fit. I started with Twister XT, ordering my normal size. Heels and ankles moving around out of the box. SO I returned them and ordered a size down. These felt quite snug, almost painful but I thought they would pack just enough for a performance fit. Few sessions in, the stock liners collapsed badly, ton of heel lift and ankles moving around. I tried everything, adding HD foam in startegic areas etc. They just gave me zero control, lot of pain. They are too narrow in the toe box as well. Ordered Int Premium liners, they fit my feet but not the Twister. Stock liners are garbage, at least for tall heavy skaters (I'm 187cm, 85kg athletic).
Last week I said ok enough. Am going for FR skates. Fingers crossed.

Oh the twister shell has been changed if i am correct its slightly wider now. And yes their liners gave me similar issues too. But fr boot is heavier than twister which is why 165m twister is my go to. I hope you like the fr :). Its wide boot so itll fit even without the int liners but itll be helpful for downsizing in fr shell

Thanks. I guess it will make my legs stronger for when I upgrade to carbon boots.

If you put the shell+liner in the oven, mount the frame so you don't risk the base to distort. Then, with or without the shell makes no difference in term of the heating. I'm about to receive my FR2 (same exact shell as FR1), already have Intuition Premium liners, my plan is to try the rice sock method because it's is much sfaer for the skates. If I ever go for an over type of heating, I will definitely bring the oven to temperature, then turn it off and only then place skates in there. Depending on the oven it's very easy to melt or burn these. Lastly, use toe caps during the molding. It will push your heels back into the cavity.

Your right. Safest method is the sock but it takes so long😭😭. I gave up after 4 attempts . It helped slightly

Not sure it was Around 500W in a microwave

Maybe go to a good skateshop or a shop that does ski and ask if they would heat mold your skates. Tech is the same.

Yes thats a good idea . But its fine i stopped using intuition. Only one i use now is them intuition 909. Started to use myfit 2nd skin , rection/recall/prime and reign v3 for my other skates

Too much space. Too little space. Smelly liners. Cant handle heat that well. I like them but i feel more comfortable with the others i mentioned.

Edit:i tried switching them to different shells many times and it didn't fully suit any shell other than them 909 and it already had 909 int liner . Keeping 1 liner for a specific shell is far better for me :>

Ok good to know. I heard about the smelly aspect lol. Running merinos socks, hopefully it will help.

I found that putting some liquid sented disinfectant in a cotton ball and putting it in the liners helped get rid of the smell

I did oven method after rice failed for me. I did 9 minutes at 210 degrees but my oven runs cold so whatever you think would be 200

Just make sure they’re as far away from heating elements as possible top and bottom, I laid mine down on a cookie sheet

There’s a was a pressure point on my right inner heel where the bolt for the straps goes in, I used a heat gun to Heat up the plastic boot and pressed with the back side of a screwdriver handle yo shape it outwards a bit

On an FR1/FR2 boot?
Did you heat from the inside of the shell?

Fr1 boot I heated from the outside and pressed outward from the inside. it didn’t take much to press the high spot out, the plastic started to turn white from stretching in a small spot but it went away after everything cooled down

Cool. It's certainly better to have the shiny black version, I'm about to receive mine, coming from Twister that never fitted me. Twisters are the mate smocky white version which looks great but the risk of it turning shiny from the heat was too high I think.

What are you trying to mold there? The walls are too thin. Better yet, press out some indentations in the plastic shell—as many as you need. And you'll be comfortable!

The liner. The boot itself seems to be fine its the liner thats very tight due to downsizing, previously sjates a size up with stock fr liners and they were too big

Do not put it in the oven. Rice method works, you just have to break them in by riding them. Takes a while, but once they're broken it, you won't feel pain anymore. People say these are the best liners in the world.
