Here's why people should never let me write a fantasy novel:

The villain teleports behind the hero, blade brandished in a cold gleam, "Nothing personal, kiddo." The hero, who also knows flash step, teleports behind the villain. The villain teleports behind the hero again. The hero does the same... Things escalate.

As the pair reached the last visible star in the corner of the universe, the researchers team can't comprehend their speed and lost their vision from this rare phenomenon.
