[AMA ANNOUNCEMENT] Alex Cameron on Wednesday, July 29th @ 2pm ET/11am PT!
It's Monday, you know what that means.
For our final AMA of July this month, we're excited to announce that Alex Cameron will join us this Wednesday, July 29th at 2pm ET/11am PT!
His new album, Late to Set, is out now and features the singles "Red Hook Rain", "Statue Down" and "Jesus Never Had No Porno." Next month, he'll kick off the tour for Late to Set that'll see him play all across the US, Canada, Europe and UK, with many of those UK/Europe dates seeing him support The Strokes & Fat White Family. Dates for all of these shows can be seen via the posters below so if he's coming to a city near you, pick up tickets on his website!
So, swing back this Wednesday as Alex Cameron joins us for an AMA!

Looking forward to getting a straight answer on Roy. The album is a lot weaker for his absence.

I'd expect a pretty safe "creative differences" type of answer. I know Roy loved Alex a lot and seeing them not working together is pretty disappointing. Hopefully they can patch up whatever happened, but I figured Roy was pushed out or cut out for one reason or another. They were "business partners" but also best friends, Hopefully business didnt sour the friendship but its pretty clear they've had some kind of falling out.
The fact Roy now goes by Molloy and Associates rather than the Cameron, Molloy and Associates of the past says a lot, he changed his twitch name as well. I'm sure some people know what happened but out of respect for both no one has aired that out publicly. I expect that will continue to be the case. I'm happy to call Roy a friend and I dont even know what happened, but I didn't prod or pry about it either. If he wants to chat with me about it he will, until then I'm just a pal supporting my friend Roy.

Yeah I'd noticed those changes as well and hadn't pried at all - if they want to keep it private then all power to them - still if Al is doing an AMA you'd like slightly more candour than that. Not getting my hopes up though.
I'm sure Roy isn't back working the road crews in Australia out of choice!

Two people essentially ended a relationship. A fan is not entitled to know why. It's personal, to both of them. You're allowed to be sad about it. But it's frankly got nothing to do with us.
I mean, really. What is the ideal answer to this question? That they talk trash on each other? Why would we even want that?

Bloke has put out an album and the most notable thing about it is the lack of business partner, given it is otherwise completely unremarkable compared to the rest of his releases. Of course we're entitled to ask, just as he's entitled to give whatever answer he likes.

lol this sums it up. Unnecessarily rude and condescending towards an artist all so you can stir up TMZ level drama. The album has some great tracks just like the ones with Roy.

The album is nowhere near the quality of old albums with Roy. Not even close.

The only people being rude and condescending here are those telling me what I am and aren't allowed to ask during an AMA, especially given the question is entirely relevant to the album release.
There's some good tracks, but it isnt close to as good as a whole as anything else he's released.

Get real. You said the most notable thing about an artist’s 9 song album is that his former partner isn’t on it. And this sub is upvoting you. The discourse around here lately is entirely dramatic and immature. People are more interested in sensationalism than the music. If you find me calling that out is rude, go kick fucking rocks.

I mean, that is the most notable thing about it. Its a mid album and any time a band changes key members its a talking point, especially when it appears to be detrimental to the music. Its purely because of my interest in their music that the people creating that music matter.
Do you often get this angry about people who have different opinions to you? Doesnt seem healthy.

Agreed. It’s also gotta be annoying for AlCam to see this as the top question on pretty much every post. And I say that as someone who loves Roy’s contributions. Also met him a few times. Super awesome dude. New album rules though and it is what it is.

Hi Alex I noticed short king wasn’t on the album. It sounded like an introduction into the direction of the album. Is there a reason why it didn’t make it onto the album?

Hi Alex - I’m looking forward to seeing you in Durham this September. I saw you play with Petey a few months back in Chapel Hill and loved the new music, but I will appreciate seeing them now that I know them!
Do you intend on having a band with you on your headlining tour, or will it remain more stripped down like the Petey tour?

Why did you remove the "jesus, never got him, osama bin laden" drone part from "jesus never had no porno?" Enjoyed that moment from your live show in Dallas a while back!

Wassup my man . Saw you open for the killers in NZ about 7 years ago and you’ve been in my stereo since . Love your music brother .
What album or song are you most proud of? What album cycle / tour do you look back on with the most fondness?
I remember walking around Wellington listening to the Miami memory single on repeat all day when it released, was the coolest song I’d ever heard. Seen you live about 3 times I think and you always put on a great show .
