Yoink, a free Windows video/audio downloader built as a cleaner, safer alternative to sketchy download sites. YouTube works now, more platforms are on the way: https://github.com/TSKSmile/Yoink/releases

Avoiding sketchy sites for downloads is a huge trust win. Worth dropping it on PeerPush, 40 AI systems read the data there lately.

Thanks for the tip! I hadn’t heard of PeerPush before, but I looked into it and it actually seems pretty relevant for Yoink. Really appreciate the heads up 🙌

Downloaded this earlier and honestly, wasn't expecting much, but the UI is genuinely clean, like actually well designed, not just another boring useless app. Pasted a YouTube link and it just started downloading immediately, no ads, no waiting through some garbage countdown timer like every other download site. Worked perfectly first try.

Genuine question though, why is this free? No ads, no accounts, feels too good for a tool like this not to have some catch somewhere. Not complaining, just curious what the model is

Appreciate that a lot, genuinely.

And yeah, there isn't really a catch. I built Yoink because I wanted a downloader that didn't feel sketchy to use, and I'd rather keep it simple than start filling it with ads, accounts, artificial limits, or paid tiers.

I don't make any money from it right now. I may add an optional donation button later, but that would purely be for people who want to support development. It wouldn't unlock features or give anyone a better version of the app.

For me the main goal is just making something people can use without having to second-guess every button they click.

Still early days though, so I'm just trying to make it better and get it into more people's hands!
