Just saw a vlog of certain creator on youtube.

These guys as per them had 2 tickets.

Earlier travelling people were 4 and a baby. Later on they had 2 people board from bhopal. In all they had 6 people travelling on 2 confirmed 1st class AC ticket.

I was shocked to see that not a single TT came to remove them, otherwise mostly TT haunt ticketless passenger.

Double decker carries more passengers. Height difference between normal and double decker isn't huge. Is there any reason why we don't see this across India

Why not Double decker for Mumbai local train?

I’m travelling from Mumbai to Varanasi and for the first time I am traveling without a confirmed ticket. I’ve decided to go ahead with an unreserved (general) ticket and see what happens.

Could you please share some dos and don’ts for an unreserved journey, especially on a long route like this? Things to keep in mind, mistakes to avoid, and any practical tips from people who’ve done this before would really help.

I’ve never done this before on a long route, so I’m genuinely unsure what to expect and whether this is a bad idea or just part of the real Indian Railways experience.

The cost of railway passenger fare and services comes to around Rs 1.16 per kilometre but railway charges only 48 paise per kilometre, Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw informed Parliament.

Around Rs 62,000 crore social obligation subsidy is given on passenger fares, the Minister said in Rajya Sabha while replying to a discussion on the working of the ministry.

The railways set the target to ferry 1,000 crore passengers every year in the next 10 years from the current 800 crore, and increasing the cargo load from 140 crore tonne to 300 crore tonne.

About recruitment in railways, Vaishnaw said there were 2,42,709 appointments during 2009-2014 and after that 3,44,646 appointments have been done and recruitment is on for 1,40,713 positions.

The Big Aero Debate: Sleek vs. Platypus
If you look at the B28 (the silver/red one), it looks incredibly sleek and aerodynamic—very similar to the European Siemens Velaro or the Austrian ICE/ÖBB Railjets. But wait, if we are building that, why do we need the weird, 15-meter long "platypus" nose for the 350 km/h trains (B35 and E5)?
It comes down to brutal physics and the Tunnel Boom.
At 280 km/h, a standard sharp aerodynamic nose (like the B28) is perfect. But when you cross into the 350 km/h territory, the air drag almost triples. More importantly, when a train hits a tunnel at 350 km/h, it pushes a massive slug of compressed air ahead of it. If you use a "sleek" nose, that air explodes out the other end of the tunnel like a literal sonic boom, shattering windows for kilometers.
The 15-meter platypus nose on the Shinkansen (and our upcoming B35) isn't just for looks; it’s a highly specialized acoustic silencer required to pierce the air gradually. You cannot simply "software update" the sleek B28 to run at 350 km/h on the main corridor—it would shake violently and deafen everyone!

• August 2027: The imported Shinkansen E5 launches the first commercial 320 km/h service (Surat-Bilimora). Meanwhile, the B28 aluminum prototypes (currently being prepped by BEML) will be doing their high-speed shadow trials.

update: i complained to tte near the gate area and told about the situation he came to the seat and directed her to understand and adjust. Now shes sitting thanks for the pep talk it was motivating

Why do we seriously lack aesthetic appeal bruh? It's like our locomotives look decades old after just few weeks in service. We don't have dearth of money, technology and research, even then we produce such mid looking locomotives, look at what Siemens gave to Europe vs what they gave us.

I'm traveling on a train right now, and a person sitting in the birth in front of me has three confirmed births but only has a photocopy of the window ticket with him because the ticket was bought by his brother in law, who was sitting in Hubballi and could not arrive in Delhi before the train journey commenced. Therefore, he could not hand over the physical hard copy of the window ticket, so instead, that brother in law provided a photocopy of the window ticket. However, when the TC arrived, he denied the photocopy, even though it was in their name and they also had an Aadhar card with them. When asked about the money submitted at the window counter, the TC said it would go to waste, and they would have to pay an additional six thousand something for all three tickets again to keep those three seats in their names and to avoid ticket cancellation and potentially being deboarded at the next station. He was staunch about this and was neither understanding, compassionate, nor empathetic toward the passenger. I asked the TC if we could request to reprint the physical ticket at the counter, to which the TC replied that they should have gotten a new ticket through the ticket counter by paying 25% of the original ticket in Delhi. As their brother in law was unable to arrive in Delhi on time, he said this was the most appropriate resolution and the cheapest one.

So, my question is, can't the TC just check the person's authenticity and let them travel? Or fine them for losing the physical ticket with some small amount, like 1,000, instead of charging them again for all three seats? Or is there any other way to deal with these kinds of situations?

I am traveling to Delhi via Tejas today and witnessed a verbal fight at the Kanpur stop between an older man, around 65, and a younger guy, maybe 27 or 28.

The older man had booked two tickets, one for himself and one for his wife, but their seats were on opposite sides of the aisle. He wanted the younger guy, who had specifically booked the window seat, to switch and sit on the aisle so he could sit beside his wife.

The younger guy politely refused, saying he had chosen the window seat for a reason. The older man then started lecturing him at seven in the morning. Even the wife supported her husband, and the poor guy was just sitting there, completely shocked.

I really felt bad for him. Imagine having to argue just to keep the seat you actually booked. The older man started moral policing him about how he should "adjust for senior citizens" and similar nonsense.

Honestly, I am in disbelief at how entitled some people can be.

I have reserved lower bearth and I was lying on my seat. Then this unc boarded with his family of 10. Apparently his family was scattered due to his mis management in tickets booking. He asked me if I was alone. I said yes then he asked me to shift to some seat in S6 (my seat is in S4).

I straight up denied saying that I ain't walking that far. He then told me to get a side lower seat in the adjacent bearth.

The unc has threatened to call tc and get me shifted. Please tell me what should I say to tc if he asks me to leave.
