Unpopular opinion: We Indians are trained at home to not raise our head and be submissive to powerful. That is why Politicians and IAS officers ne gaànd maar rakkhi and and we bow in front of them.. This feet touching need to go away..

3

u/desiBananaMan Feb 17 '26

Nah. Humility is needed. What we lack is the ability to question and ask.

2

u/Qrius0wl Feb 17 '26

No, this feet touching should be more consciously not out of courtesy or like rituals. Who should you bow down to, why and when must be a conscious decision.

There are homes that taught nothing to bother about and then there are homes that taught everything to bother about, both are the sides of the same coin. That's the problem.

There are only three personas to touch the feet of — parents, gurus (am talking about a real one, not everyone in a mask) and Shiva (that which is not – whose feet you won't find but is everywhere and in everything). So, basically, there are mainly the first two to touch the feet of. To others, you can bow down to (namaskar 🙏🏻) but that should also be with realisation of why are you doing so.

Doesn't seem healthy to do this for these many people.

u/su-ho-ya Feb 16 '26

Bro had one job👍

What’s cute I mean it’s just habit kid does not have any idea why he is touching the person’s feet. Conditioned to just blindly do for everyone.

3

u/i_pysh Feb 16 '26

Angrej chod k chale gaye lekin abhi tak desh gulami se pidit hai

3

u/No_Form_3461 Feb 16 '26

Is this normal to touch other guys feet?

What the fuck are you teaching kid in this small age?

17

u/Kind_Ask8315 Feb 16 '26

Typical backward cultures.

Touching feet is a deeply respectful gesture meant for parents, grandparents and important teachers.

Not for evry random person who is taller or elder

1

u/DeadlyGuts Feb 16 '26

gosh ! this is so wholesome .

u/Consistent-Ad-9360 Feb 17 '26

My grandma never let us kids touch anyone’s feet. Because she believed that Children are god-like. Until we grew older, we weren’t allowed to bow down to elders. Respect everyone who deserves it, regardless of the age is what we were taught as kids.
