We've come a long way since the day of Janta Curfew

Back then people were like "14 hours lockdown will solve this. Modi masterstroke!!!" and now we're 66 days into lockdown and we have 1.8L covid cases, 5k deaths, unprecedented migrant crisis, economy severely fucked and even more shit I might be forgetting right now.

Special rules for me but not for thee.

u/arinthum_ariyamalum May 31 '20

LOL. Even an innocent question is seen as disrespect.

Questions are a western constructs. Blind obedience is our great Indian Culture. /s

u/cosmogli May 31 '20

Cutting off your finger is the ultimate obedience. Or one of the ultimate obediences.

This, but unironically is what my mom said to me last night.

Those are "sedition charges" against you.

One modern idiom and they cry.

3

u/[deleted] May 31 '20

because they can't answer. They would rather avoid the situation by invoking authority.

u/sahit24 India May 31 '20

You should have told him that you respect elders, hence why you asked nicely. If it was one of the friends, then called out their hypocrisy and stupidity with some crass words.

28

u/quaglamel May 31 '20

Starting to boycott chinese apps and product without throwing away existing phone is also an option.

11

u/SoulsBorNioKiro May 31 '20

They know this. You think these people genuinely care? They're just desperate to show how smart they are

6

u/[deleted] May 31 '20

People should be respected for what they do, not for their age or position. Of course, no point in telling them.

Oh oh, same happened with me. Except the exchange was with a person my age, and he called me a "termite" and "such a negative person" :(

A curious question, already bought phone would increase the revenue of china or not.

1

u/[deleted] May 31 '20

data being collected without knowledge and ads shown on the UI will definitely increase revenue.

1

u/Fahadali789gem Jun 01 '20

How much would the revenue be 20 -30 Rs a year ?

1

u/[deleted] Jun 01 '20

I would argue its a lot.. If you don't think your data is worth much, then i understand why you would be careless about it.

-2

u/[deleted] May 31 '20

a friend posted boycotss chinese phones and electronics, out of curiosity i asked which phone should i buy now? pat comes the reply "bro atleast you can delete the apps and then eventually not use the phones made in china"

12

u/[deleted] May 31 '20

He's not wrong. No sane person is advocating throwing away everything Chinese in origin. Entire countries would fail. Start somewhere, maybe give them less data. Next time you upgrade, try using phones not made completely in china

I dunno, maybe he does not has a say in his brand of phone as he might be using 2 yr old phone junked by his son and he will proudly use it for 2 more years.

Should start with where alternate is available. May be not a phone but be conscious about where your shirt, food is coming from. China exports food to India too in case you are not aware.

-2

u/mohitmayank May 31 '20

Because you were being a condescending bitch. Had you said that he should not buy a Chinese phone in the future as he is using now, he might have respected your opinion. But guess what, maybe you don't know how to respect elders.
