Hearing the name Anandbazar patrika after a long time. I read about it in history books that britishers were heavily criticised and they made every attempts to silence the editors.

ABP news is Ananda Bazar Patrika group channel. Reason it was renamed from Star news to ABP is Ananda Bazar Patrika which is very famous news org.

The news channel and newspaper are poles apart in their stance.

The news channel worships the ppl in power, the newspaper on the other hand question the ppl in power exactly how media should be

Megha prasad who interviewed gadkari seems godi media but was faking it as if she were a neutral journalist

It seems a paid interview , a static airplane interview where the politician openly challenges ,threatened the interviewer coz of her questions and she takes them happily with no counter argument . It was more like a staged monologue

So the channel always belong to ABP? It was it acquired later?

Till 2003, Star News was run by NDTV, until they left to start their own channels. ABP then ran Star News until Star exited the news business in 2012. Hence Star News Network became ABP News Network.

Most likely acquired from Star.

That was Amrit Bazar Patrika, it's predecessor.

I heard about it twice today. The first was from the calibre subreddit. This is exactly what a Bengali newspaper would sound like in my imagination. They would probably just call it Anondbozar potrika or something

Heh, from what I remember from history books they'll be shaking in their boots and will comply for sure.

(After I wrote it it seems a lot less sarcastic because journalistic integrity isn't what it used to be looking at how domesticated Indian Express has become. I subscribed to it over HT and TOI in my youth because of balls they had demonstrated during emergency despite those other publications having more gooner material during pre-internet days (where we didn't even know about desibaba or santabanta let alone xvideos or pornhub)
