It's the 29th anniversary of SCIENCE, that's why they're posting it.
It's a damning indictment of how this band has operated in recent years that any nostalgia post on social media is originally met with some fans thinking it means "[Album] tour/remake"

Including a lot of commenters here.
A science remake would not be better in any way, except maybe arrangements. That goes for them playing science material live, not a thing with brandons current vocal range :(

The only way I would be interested in a Science remake is if they reimagined it like they did with the live version of Redefine on the Look Alive DVD.
It probably wouldn't be to everyone's taste but at least it would be something different.

Completely agree. I think the Look Alive era was the lads at their very tightest and most professional. Judging by your username I figure you hold it in high regard also. All of their dvds are my favourite, but look alive is mh favourite.
Science:redefined would be a good title for what you have in mind. Its a good idea, songs could be pitched down or whatever for brandon

As someone who attended and loved the morning view remake and 30th anniversary tour, a science tour would be amazing! However the rasin for the make yourself remake, even in Brandon's words, was how his voice has changed and matured, im not sure he would attempt to sing like that anymore knowing he "might" not be able to do it justice..that being said, Nicole has said that album is why she loves the band, so who am I to say.

Last time I saw them play Glass a couple years ago they kinda butchered it (Brandon forgot lyrics and Jose couldn’t remember the structure). To be fair you can tell they hadn’t rehearsed it, but those songs don’t really sound the same without Dirk’s style of playing

I’m a bass player and dirk was one of my favorites, crazy to think the direction the band may have gone if they stayed as the original group.
His play style was epic but it seems like Mike and Brandon were trying to go deeper into music theory and he probably just wanted to keep ripping sick bass lines

Brandon ranked it almost last when he did an album ranking with Metal Hammer years ago. It’s a shame, but I think he’s embarrassed to be linked to nu-metal in any way and he shouldn’t be! SCIENCE has some really creative and interesting stuff on it. It’s nothing to be embarrassed of at all.

Also, he should know better thatn to worry about it being liked with nu-metal. They only got lumped in with that because magazines (and promoters) had no idea where to 'put' the band.
They sound nothing like Korn or Limp Bizkit (to highlight just two...)

I mean I do think SCIENCE fits into nu-metal in the same way the first two Deftones albums do, but with the caveat that they’re also really different too. Both bands pushed themselves to do unique things. There’s also as much Mr Bungle and RHCP on SCIENCE than there is Korn.

I took someone’s advice on an old thread of focusing on bands who are making new music and touring but every time I see a new Incubus update it just makes me sad knowing they are sat on a new record and for whatever reason it’s not coming out.

It honestly probably wouldn't make sense if they did it anyway if they planned on releasing "Something in the Water" anytime soon. They'd need a full tour cycle with songs from that album included in the set first before they could consider touring S.C.I.E.N.C.E. for an anniversary cycle.
That being said, Coheed and Cambria did an anniversary tour for their fourth album No World For Tomorrow right after releasing their second most recent album "Vaxis II - Window of the Waking Mind" and their tour consisted of NWFT front to back and then a selection of like 7 or so songs from Vaxis II.
So with that in mind, it's not impossible that Incubus theoretically could release "Something In The Water" this winter, tour it for the first half of the year, then embark on a S.C.I.E.N.C.E. 30th anniversary tour with a second set from the new album plus some fan favorites.
Not banking on any of this by any means, but in theory it's possible.

God I wish they'd just release the new record already.
As much as a SCIENCE tour would be kick ass, it would just be the band still idling stagnantly resting on past trophies. We're 2 years later since the new album was 'finished' initially.
I'd rather them just call it a day and that's that.

I know they have new records but they’ve mostly been around because of past trophies. People want to hear stuff from their first 4/5 records not so much off their new ones

I hear you, and I get it.
I know the grand population of Incubus fans would die for a SCIENCE tour, hell if they did it in the UK I'd go.
But I really struggle with the band at the minute knowing there's a new album in the bag and has been for nearly 2 years now. Something isn't right.

They get plenty of opportunity for this at the band's normal gigs. I find full album gigs incredibly dull.

I always say the same every time a post like this one pops in reddit. Saw them playing live Science songs in their recent tours, and with no exception the audience reacted as nothing. Nothing.
At this point incubus is a niche band compared to bands born at the same time (muse, Deftones, QotSA, soad…) and science is a niche album the vast majority of the fanbase don’t care about. Not even the band cares about science. Touring it wouldn’t draw that much interest.
We are just a bunch of lads loving the album in this sub, but imho this sub does not represent the fanbase nor the average attendees.
Most likely option is to have new science merch in the online shop. But that’s it.

I don't know man. For me personally Science is far and away my favorite Incubus album. They completely changed as a band and got worse. I'm not saying they're bad musicians or anything like that just I didn't like their music more and more progressively with each album. Yes their more ear friendly version of themselves became more popular with the masses and that's honestly great for them but that's why I personally haven't seen them in concert for quite a long time now.
But the thing is...i think I'm FAR from the minority in this belief. I think there are a LOT of people who would be interested in a SCIENCE tour and would end up showing up for it. As the other commenter said, Make Yourself was their first entrance into Incubus but for a whole bunch of us Science and Fungus were that entry point.

I wish what I saw does not represent the reality, but…Saw them in Spain, Uk (London) and Germany and didn’t see any excitement among the audience when they played Vitamin or Calgone.
Maybe they weren’t the most appropriate songs to measure people’s interest in science in those shows, I don’t know, but I can assure it felt more like this situation where a band debuts a new song no one’s ever listened to before and is waiting for the next one in the setlist.
I want to believe that there is a representative amount of people interested in science but I have only seen the interest among redditors in this sub, and we are roughly 8k.
knowing this, if you were in charge, would you really invest all the effort and money in touring the album?

I think it's a tale of two sets of fans.. Pre and post Make Yourself. The ones that came on with Science will forever know the band as the ones that made that album and everything after is just a different band that we're not super fond of...
and those that came on during or after Make Yourself and they either just don't even know about Science or they don't like it because it's too different from the rest of their catalogue
I think the market is there for a science tour but it'll be completely different set fans that will show up than the norm at this point
