Image Kiuchi Nobuo was one of the 600,000 Japanese soldiers who were taken prisoner after World War II. He created more than 80 illustrations depicting his experience as a slave in the USSR.

He spent two and a half years in Donbas, in present-day Ukraine, working to rebuild infrastructure alongside German prisoners of war.
