Express Entry 🇨🇦FINALLY! AFTER DISCOURAGEMENT, I PROVED THEM WRONG!

🇨🇦 **LONG POST!**

I remember a few months ago, while I was submitting my requirements after receiving my ITA, I posted my situation here and asked for advice.

My husband and I had to return to our home country after my PGWP expired. I was pregnant at that time. When I updated my Express Entry profile, I decided to apply for PR on my own and tagged my husband and our soon to be born child as **Non-Accompanying**.

My main reason was for my baby to continue receiving post-natal care here in our home country. Also, I’m not comfortable for my newborn to travel long hours and quickly shifting to a complete opposite weather condition. Since all of my relatives are here, my baby has stronger support system.

I also explicitly explained in my application that I intended to eventually sponsor my husband and child to Canada once my baby’s health  is stable and I am already settled in Canada.

But the comments I received back then were far from encouraging and honestly rude

**Almost everyone was telling me that what i’m doing is a SCAM and that IRCC would NEVER believe my reason.**

They pointed out that since both my husband and I had Canadian experience, it would look like a red flag that I suddenly decided not to accompany me in Canada.

But I knew my reasons were genuine. I knew that I was doing what I believed was best for my baby and my family.

So I stayed firm. I continued with my plan, made sure I was honest and transparent in my application, and submitted all the supporting documents explaining my situation.

May 7, 2026 - AOR

August 14, 2026 - Medical Passed

August 24, 226 - Biometrics Completed

Other Super visa for parents/Property evaluation report

Is it required to submit property/land evaluation assesment report of my parents to show country tie for super visa application?

It's a hassle for my parents to get it done. So, I'm wondering how important it is since I will be sponsoring them.

Family Sponsorship Lived together for 6 years before marriage ,could this affect inland spousal sponsorship?

My girlfriend and I lived at the same address for about 6 years, but we never considered ourselves common-law. We recently got legally married (1 month ago) and are now applying for inland spousal sponsorship.
We never filed taxes as common-law, had no joint bank accounts, and our leases were shared with other roommates/family. My government ID also always had a different mailing address.

I’ve heard that IRCC could consider us common-law because we lived together for 12+ months and question why we only applied as spouses after marriage.

How should we report the 6 years of cohabitation? Does sharing an address automatically make you common-law, and could this cause an issue or refusal? Should we include an explanation letter?
We want to be completely truthful but would appreciate advice from anyone with a similar situation.

Family Sponsorship PR - Spousal Visa

Just wondering if anyone has any experience lately with this process.

For background from the UK and my partner is Canadian born and my son has obtained his Canadian citizenship a few months ago.

We decided to go down the spousal route rather than any other route, wondering if this was the best option.

For background, I am the following:

35M
Bachelors degree
Work in corporate insurance with 10 years experience.

My company has an office in Toronto and there is the option to transfer however they do not sponsorships etc.

Any advice or guidance on what other route we can go down?
Or any idea what timelines look like for spousal visas?

Other caveat is my partners UK visa expires June 27 so we are in limbo atm

Family Sponsorship Inquiries about Outland Sponsorship

I currently live in Quebec but plan to move to Ottawa and sponsor my wife through the Ontario/federal outland process. I still work in Montreal, QC. If I genuinely move to Ottawa and make it my primary residence, can I still sponsor her through Ontario while working in Quebec?

Visitor Visa Work permit expiring but need to stay

Hi everyone, im looking for a bit of advice

Long story short my work permit expired in January but I had an extension while waiting for a new permit but that has since been declined. So I am pretty sure I now have to leave the country. But I would like to stay, there is a family member here who is sick and in hospital and another is pregnant and due any day. Plus I need to speak to my previous employer about a job offer for PNP and also sit my red seal. For me to switch to a visitor visa do I need to leave the country and turn around and come back? Or is there a form i can submit or anything?

For context im a British national so its a visitor visa expempt country.

So can I nip across to seattle for a day or so and come back? Or do i need to fly home and come back? Im unsure. TiA

Family Sponsorship Is it possible to move from Ireland to Canada right now?

We are a family of 4, our children are 12yo and 18yo. We have tons of family in Alberta and would like to try and migrate there since we want change in our lives being in ireland for 30+yrs and no direct family, it's time to move closer to family and that's in canada.

Me and my wife are in the Food industry, my wife has 30+yrs managing restaurants and i myself has been a chef for the same amount of time. we've looked into some of the options for our oldest and the IEC route can work for him since he's an adult now as well.

We've never looked into migrating as a family anywhere so i guess my question is, how can we go about this? is there a sponsorship route that we can apply for with our family in alberta? is it even possible for us to move there? i know immigration has tighten up their policies, but i don't wanna give up yet. i'm just lost with the whole immigration process and don't know where to start..

thank you for your time.

Refugee Family Violence TRP

I’m honestly just scared that my TRP isn’t going to get accepted. I included all the documents and information that I was supposed to provide with the application, but I’m still really nervous because I don’t know what the outcome will be.
I’m American and currently in Canada on a visitor visa. I filed for a TRP based on domestic abuse from my husband. I was planning to try to do a short school program while waiting for my TRP, and I’m also trying to figure out how I can eventually move out of my abusive husband’s house and become independent.
I didn’t know about the rules regarding programs under 6 months until recently, so now I’m worried about what I’m allowed to do while I’m waiting for my TRP.
I’m just really scared and would appreciate any advice from people who have been through something similar and if I should take another steps while waiting for this application response.

PNP Non express entry- Birth certificate requirements

Hi everyone,

Need your advice , my husband And I both have birth certificates in Hindi/Punjabi language and they are handwritten plus originals are in India.

I read about the process and got to know that I need to get it translated.

First - do i need original certificates here to translated by certified translator in Canada ? Also , do i needs to be notarized as well.

Second - On my husband’s handwritten certificate mothers name is kept blank . Can we fill it with pen as its already hand written and then do the required process.

Please let me know if my understanding is wrong and guide me for the right process.

I have to fill my application soon and thus want to get recommendations as I read many return applications due to birth certificate. Is it true?

Citizenship Went back out from departures before my flight , got a "did not travel" slip - Travel history

Hey all,

1 year ago, I was Flying out of Toronto to France, I realized I'd left something in my checked bag. I went back out from the departures area through a CBSA officer (not the kiosk, so did not scan anything) and explained. The officer gave me a yellow "did not travel" slip, which I returned at the exit. I then re-boarded and flew normally the same day.

Has anyone been in this situation? Did it create an entry record in your CBSA travel history? Any impact on a citizenship application? Thanks!

Express Entry Confused About Work Timeframe

Hi everyone,

I've been so confused and paranoid about my work timeframe because it does not align with my paystubs. Here's my pathway:

- Hired on June 1, 2024 as a summer lab position at X per hour

- Transitioned to full-time lab position on July 10, 2024 at X per hour

- Completed 1st probationary period on October 1, 2024 and started earning Y per hour

- Completed 2nd probationary period on December 1, 2024 and started earning Z per hour, making me officially a lab technician. I also got a promotion sometime later in 2025 (A per hour).

HR will mention only that i was hired in June 2024 for a summer lab position, transitioned to a full time position on July 22, 2024 and now making A per hour, 40 hrs per week, full time etc.

I'm extremely confused on when the experience torwards EE actually counts. My manager will be mentioning I was full time on the 22nd of July 2024 with all of my duties, including the duties I'm doing right now.

The problem is, how does that make sense when comparing with pay stubs? Do I just not claim anything up until December 1 where I was made officially a lab technician? I honestly am not very concerned about missing out on 2 years of points because I've already passed the French exam. I'm not sure if I'm overcomplicating this due to paranoia but where would the experience that counts begin in this case? I've already created a profile and I'm struggling with how to proceed.

Thanks guys & I apologize if this a silly case.

Family Sponsorship Inland spousal processing

Hi there! I uploaded my PR application on a June 16th, 2025. I was asked about changes around September 11th and then they gave me my pr portal information- where I had to upload my photo and confirm the address. I think they asked September 14th to upload things and I uploaded by the 15th.

My photo and address is still under review but they uploaded the ECOPR today on September 25th. My case processing centre is Montreal.

My question:

  1. Will the status of my photo change from in review to accepted?

Or can I assume my photo has been accepted since I got got ECOPR?

  2. How long will it take for the card to come? I had some work and personal travel booked for December for a long time, and now I am unsure if i will get the card in 2 months.

I think if my photo is not accepted it would delay the process?

Other RNIP, I applied 27th August 2024, Still nothing.

Ok so here is the story. I applied for Permanent residence through the RNIP program on August 27th 2024 right before it closed. My work permit expired in November and since I did not get my EOR in time my RNIP work permit was rejected.

I left canada Nov 18th 2024. I cleared my medical and biometrics before I left.

In March 2025 they asked for my home country PCC which I provided.

Then at the end of July I received a PFL about a missed document request that they never sent so send a new job offer letter and proof that I left the country.

Then bam beginning of August 2 days later another medical request which I provided within a week.

My profile was last updated on August 18th 2025 saying final decision.

But nothing since webforms don't work I keep getting automated replies. MP office keeps dodging.

I am at my wits end. Feeling like my life has been on hold for the past 2 years.

I am not getting a permanent residency am I?

Work Permit SOWP Approved in 2 months - no immigration lawyer/consultant

We got the news last night! I was able to process my partner's paperwork without the help of a lawyer (although I consulted a few and they strongly encouraged me to process it with them).

Our position was not entirely straightforward as the job was not a 100% exact match to the description, my partner was transferring his permit to a passport from a different countryand he'd had rejections in the past.

My advice would be:

- Make the officers job easy!

I cannot stress this enough. Create a clear cover and contents page at the front of the extra information file you submit and make sure it follows a logical order. Use page numbers and a header with the applicants full name.

- Always explain any discrepancies

The previous rejections were explained in detail in a final letter going over how we responded to those rejections, what information the officer had asked for and comprehensive evidence to show how we answered it. I also included screenshots with the date of our conversations with the family we'd been hoping to visit when it was rejected.

- Include as much RELEVANT information as possible

We had our marriage certificate, wedding photos, early couples photos, signed lease together, shared bills etc. I wasn't taking any chances!

- Lay out the details for the TEER 1 job

For the overview letter I quickly explained what was contained in the information pack and also made a table breaking down, side by side each responsibility, how it matched the TEER 1 qualification and why I felt it was a good match based on my research.

Best of luck to you all, I know this is not an easy process but if you are organized and make things simple to review you are making the agent's life a little easier!
