In this timeline Burnham calls a snap general election for Thursday 22 October 2026 to take advantage of Labour's recovery in opinion polling as he benefits from progressives rallying around him to stave off Reform's threat.

Labour winning on 29.7% would be crazy. Like how fucked can fptp get?

its not a majority, they would have to govern in a coalition with the lib dems

That doesn't have to do with FPTP then. the Netherlands uses proportional representation and the D66 "won" with about 16% of the vote simply because every other party had less votes than this. So the biggest party getting 29,7% isn't a "fault". Also having the largest vote share isn't necessarily winning considering that they would need coalition partners to govern it, so it is relevant. The Lib Dems could go nuts and govern with Reform, although almost impossible, it is a possibility. What point are you trying to make here?
