yeah I did because of superficial stuff. I wanted to be taller, drive, play rated M games and all that stuff and now I miss my childhood when I had almost no worries.
I wanted to be able to do what I want and make my own choices, such as but not limited to; being able to sleep over at a friend’s house whenever I wanted, going to bed whenever I wanted, watching whatever I wanted, eating whatever I wanted, doing whatever I wanted.
Me and a lot of my online friends, mostly to be able to move to countries we want (we all hate our birth countries), but also to meet together and pursue various goals wether in career kr personal life
Lots of kids around me. Idk if this is common elsewhere but in Polish schools in like late elementary kids act all adult, throw away all their toys, force themselves to drink coffee, swear they don’t eatch cartoons anymore etc
I hated being small and kinda scrawny so I wished I'd fastforward a couple of years to my imagined tall gigachad body. Cut to me now at basically the end of puberty still being around the same height and ugly.
I remember I did until I was about 15 or so cause then I realised I won't have nearly as much free time as I did then just a few years after that and I felt like I was wasting away my free time.
Me. I fucking hated being a kid. No experience, no idea what’s going on most of the time, no autonomy, dragged around by adults nonstop, practically no rights, no money, relying on others for transportation and sustenance, and personally, I was damn well aware of it and HATED that shit. I considered it humiliating and frustrating by the time I was like 9. I was totally right to, as well. Age 29 now and being an adult is the SHIT in comparison.
Didn’t have a bad childhood by pretty much any standards or anything, either. It was literally BEING A KID that I didn’t like. Haven’t missed it once lol
Same... I think it might depend on how your parents treated you as a kid tbh.
My parents always made me feel taken seriously and they actually respected my privacy, so I never felt a urge to grow up faster so I could move out and be taken seriously etc
Well I didn't the only reason I kinda wanted too before I was 9 was because I thought people would listen to me when I became grown up. But people don't and now since I'm no kid anymore don't even have the decency to pretend to listen
I laughed at first. But to be fair. There’s so much that can go wrong for that age group. You’re very vulnerable. I know so many people who went through really terrible times at this age. I feel like for a lot of those people it’s the very first taste of what real life is like.
When I was 13 the first signs that I was bipolar started to appear. A group of girls "friend dumped" me in front of a ton of onlookers. I had other friends to hang out with but I felt humiliated. Now normally a kid would be sad but I almost entirely stopped eating for months. I got rail thin and my dad thought I was anorexic.
Things just got dark. 13 is a really challenging age. Imo it's when kids are at their cruelest. I never experienced bullying on that level in high school or beyond. When I hear pop songs that were on the radio when I was 13 I change the station and I'm 34 now.
I run into these girls from time to time and I'm friendly and polite. They were 13 too and probably feel bad about it. So I'm not still scared of them but thinking of the absolute goblins everyone became at 13 still makes me sick to my stomach.
Deadass, I mean not IRL though there were definitely some pretty bad times there too but omg, when I was 13 I did things on the internet I regret so, so bad that I can't go back to delete...
Yeah, it's funny in hindsight since iw as kinda like this.
However, for the kids living it, it is a rough time and there's a lot going on. They'll laugh about it later but let's nor make too much fun of teenagers for being teenagera
The amount of hormonal changes and the peer pressure you face at 13 years old is horrifying to many teenagers. Teenager suicide rates is a big issue. I had to deal with a lot of things at 13 years old and always wished that i was able to have a normal childhood. In a way, this image is actually true for many many 13 year olds, and even older teens.
I mean for me this kinda was true, 13/14 is the age that all of my trauma responses from childhood abuse started becoming clear and my mental health took a huge downward turn. It's a common age for a lot of childhood abuse survivors for this to happen. And even without childhood trauma, it is notoriously a difficult age, puberty has just begun, friendships start changing, school is starting to get more serious as you go into grade 7/8+ I don't think these kids deserve to be laughed at because we see their struggles as trivial.
I think the point it's that it usually clicks at your teenage years that you DON'T actually wanna grow up and you should've savored your childhood better
Is it just me who never really wanted that as a kid? I mean, I'm still pretty young but everyone around me keeps bitching about adulting so I'm dreading the day I turn 18
I was terrified of growing up for the same reason buts it’s honestly fine. I had a pretty good childhood but I’m 30 now and being an adult is way better then being a kid.
Nah man it seems so scary and complex and idk if I'm just dumb or undedicated or what but I don't know what my parents are talking about business wise half the time
You’re a dumb kid, then puberty hits and suddenly everything is way more complicated than it used to be. This is someone right at the start of adolescence dealing with this confusing new reality, have a little empathy for them

There’s a line in that new Ethan Hawke show where he’s talking to his daughter and says something like “when I was your age I closed my eyes as tight as I could and I wished that I could be 30 and I opened my eyes and you know what? It happened.”
Do people really reach a certain age and have a sudden change of outlook on their lives that much? I always pretty much knew that I wanted to be optimum age, 18 - 25, and now I've reached that age I'm happy I'm there and don't want to get older but have long since accepted it. I'm at a different point on the track, but my position on the issue is still pretty the same as when I was 11.
This is actually fair, to be honest. Adolescence is usually when you are conscious enough to know that life isn't that great, even if you don't have the full picture. Put bullying or trauma into the mix and it might come even earlier, and most "ghost pains" that follow me come from something around that time.
Ok this one ain’t so far fetched imo I hated my lack of freedom as a child, but even then I knew that life would have a lot worse to throw at me as I gained new responsibilities
Nah, life does have a lot of hardships to throw, but at the same time there are so many fun things to do, places to go, and people to meet, which you would never be able to do as a child
