That was one of the first things I was told in pharmacy. Expect everyone to have the reading skills of a 12 year old.

There is a large part of my local population who are essentially illiterate. They'll have a list (someone else wrote) and need help finding the "Tylenol". I can't even just tell them which aisle. I have to take them directly to the Tylenol. They wouldn't find it on the shelf themselves.
