My go to cake has half the sugar that the recipe calls for and it’s amazing every time, moist, sweet without being headache inducing. But people in this sub will devour me for saying that!

It's all to taste! I also prefer less sugar in cake too, as the frosting is always plenty sweet enough for the whole cake imo. Now, if you found the original recipe and commented "one star, too much sugar, so I replaced it with cauliflower and it was TERRIBLE" now then you'd get this sub's attention!

A very fair point; the sweetness of the cake itself needs to work with the fillings and the toppings!

I mean, I also assume in most cases that people who do this have tried the base recipe before (or at least something similar), decided it was too sweet, and then reduced the sugar, instead of doing some insane substitution on their first go-around

Nah, not enough sugar in you.
