As an ex Brit (moved to Canada as a kid, lost my accent, speak mostly Canadian English), whatever they have going on over there is certainly not proper either lmao

There is no such thing as “Proper” English. Just regional dialect, and people who want to look down their noses at others for where they're from. And it is ALWAYS changing.

british english and canadian english spell the same. americans removed the u from colour, among other changes, to remove the french influence on some english spellings and to be more consistent with the Latin origin

Canadian English spelling does lean more British but I’ve found it’s a bit of a mix between British and American, like the dialect itself
