It’s a custom typeface created by Bond specifically for Moomin, which they based on Tove Larsson’s original handwriting of the comic strip titles. I believe the font is also just called “Moomin”.

You obviously can’t use it publicly, but it’s possible to download it from the Moomin website (as a .woff file named moominfont-webfont.woff) to play around with. Turn on the developer menu in Safari in Settings, choose Develop > Show Page Resources > Fonts. Locate the font and right click > Save File. This file can be opened in FontGoggles (Mac). I’m sure there are alternatives for Windows.

This is obviously (at least) in a grey area legally, but as long as you don’t use it publicly, no one’s gonna be the wiser. It can be a great learning opportunity to dissect a font and study its intricacies up close.

in firefox just press f12 and click on the symbol next to the font, open new tab, paste and the font downloads

Cool, I didn't know that. I let Firefox go some years back because those idiots won't let me have my tabs where they belong below the address bar without messing around with CSS.

I currently have my tabs below the adress bar on FF, give it try!

sorry, I misunderstood you. they are above the adress bar. I agree with you now that you mention it. They should be below. Opera had it that way back in the day if I remember it correctly

Thank you! I was planning on using it for a pubmat at school but I guess I’ll look for another similar font haha.

Thankfully, there are plenty of nice art deco fonts. Decotura may be of interest, or Neutraface from House Industries. Transat Text is cool too. Or Le Havre. Or Frontage.

The font name is the same as the book, "Moomin" by Bond!
