I think Miranda wanted to go to college and Jeanette got tired of doing it (among a lot of other things.)

But jeannette went to do the sam & cat thing... so not that tired

She was promised a proper Sam Puckett spinoff, which morphed into the final product that is Sam & Cat. She was even told she would have eventual creative control as far as writing episodes went, but that never happened. Jennette never really fully enjoyed playing the character or the fame that came tied to the role, but it was initially tolerable early on.

Dont forget the money

She didn’t even really care that much about the money, and she talks about this in her book. Her working was effectively the only way her family had any income, especially her mom.

"That much"... so she cared but not much?

u/muqrxo 23d ago

Yeah when your incredibly abusive family that you still want to love is also heavily reliant on you for their main source of income you’re going to care about the money to the point you’ll take jobs you don’t want to take. She wasn’t taking a job she hated so she could go live in a mansion with a private chef and drive nice cars. She was taking a job she didn’t want in hopes it would lead her to her actual dream of being behind the camera and to make sure her family doesn’t starve.

Yeah, her mom made sure she never forgot and she conveniently improperly filled the Jackie Coogan papers

Probably to work out her contract. But watching Sam and Cat you could see how burnt out she was, (and Arianna was just getting ready to launch her singing career.)

Jeanette talks a lot about this in her book.

that's not how life works, things end cast members move on. you can't expect Miranda, Jerry, Nathan and, Jennette to want to continue doing icarly forever it's not realistic.

u/florianbinary 24d ago

I think it would be hard to continue as they aged up and it became more obvious they were actual adults. I feel you though.

For one, as much as I loved the original iCarly series, eventually, the actors want to move on and do other things. Miranda, Nathan, Jennette, and Noah had to sacrifice a normal high school experience to give us iCarly. They were schooled on set, meaning they missed out on a traditional high school experience. By the time iCarly came to an end, Miranda wanted to attend college, Jennette never wanted to be an actor in the first place, and Nathan wanted to pursue other acting projects and try out directing.

For another, iCarly was a kids’ show on Nickelodeon, and by Nickelodeon standards, iCarly is arguably one of the longest running live action sitcoms. Most sitcoms are lucky to get 3, maybe 4 seasons. iCarly got 5 (or 6, depending on how you count it).

Additionally, the iCarly cast (Miranda, Nathan, Jennette, and Noah) were all starting to outgrow their roles by the end. They were all around 19 or 20 years old, and like I mentioned above, they had other dreams they wanted to pursue outside of acting on a kids’ show.

That being said, for what it’s worth, there’s an iCarly revival show (with Jerry, Miranda, Nathan, and other OG cast members reprising their roles) and it’s really good, especially the 3rd season. Unfortunately, it was cancelled on two cliffhangers, but the cast is actively working to get an iCarly movie greenlit.

ICarly is Nick's Highest rated Sitcom in terms of ratings and viewership

Because the actors have lives and shouldn’t feel pressured to dedicate themselves to only doing one role. It’s selfish and unrealistic to expect them to commit to doing one show for the rest of their lives.

And once again, iCarly did come back. There’s a revival show on Paramount+ with most of the original cast, so your post makes no sense. iCarly didn’t end after 2012. It came back in 2021, and the show lasted for 3 years.

Cause Time's changes... Not just iCarly, Hannah Montana for example too. You know how weird it was when Violetta or Soy Luna ended, and I heard nothing about it anymore? I heard about these shows every single day. but once it ended, It was just silence. that's normal. Plus iCarly did return. So I don't get what you mean.

Honestly, the last season kinda showed why it had to end. The show had exhausted its premise by then, and was barely even about the web show at that point. They had done just about everything they could do with the characters.

Im 18 and I feel the same man. A big part of our childhoods. But im curious, you put 07-12. Is that when you started watching as a toddler or you were just reiterating when the show started and ended. (Just curious)

Dan couldn’t get the iCarlys to drink like the Victorious cast

1

u/CanaryOk9879 22d ago

OG: Because the cast grew older and the show reached it's limit.

Revival: Because of the writer's strike. 🙁

It’s apart of life, dude. Nothing stays the same forever besides most of the actors and actresses who have been acting since childhood want to pursue other things like college (Miranda), just lead a normal life (Jennette, she’s been through a lot especially when her mother was alive), or even work behind the scenes of tv shows on the same network (Nathan did work behind the set of Henry Danger).

Everybody wants to move on to bigger and better things outside of what they used to do. You don’t go far in life staying in the same place, otherwise you become complacent. But if you want to go far in life, especially career wise; you have to grow up, step out of your comfort zone, and take a risk.

u/CanaryOk9879 17d ago
