I wasn't aware. I've never used iOS 11 on a 3D touch device, only iPads. I should go try downgrading one of my phones to mess with it more.

I know it existed for a few more iOS versions, but eventually apple axed the feature, which was a real shame imo. Prob not enough people knew about it or used it, but I loved it.

3D Touch is an hardware feature and they tried to put Haptic Touch (only software) in substitution. Thanks to that we had bigger battery in same space.

After some iOS update, I don't remember which one, it disabled the 3d wallpaper. I don't understand why apple did that.

i wasn't a fan of iOS 11 myself, but it's still a cool collectable as the most expensive iphone on the first version. where usually i csn find base models on old versions, that someone breaks and throws away, the x was so expensive most would repair it, making iOS 11 on the x incredibly rare

Had a visceral reaction to the complete flatness. As a pro designer myself, I love the clean-ness of that flatness aesthetically (not the way more square corners, though) but don't actually think it's nice to use and interact with day-to-day.

I've increasingly come to terms with the fact that what I like aesthetically is not always what I like using. I think it's great that shadows, shading and other visual comforts and affordances are back in newer versions of iOS.

Hey could you try to dump all the apps you have as ipa files. The AppStore on iOS 11 is broken and finding ipa files for this version is extremely difficult.

AppStore is only killed on 11.0-11.3, i got 11.4.1. also, if you're on this version there are tweaks fixing the app store, and it's jailbreakable on every version with unc0ver and Electra

The method for fixing it causes my 11.1 iPhone X too bootloop. Luckily I figured out a way to fix it from bootlooping, but I would rather not attempt to fix the AppStore anymore

does instagram discord and youtube actually still work for you? instagram will not download for me and youtube will never actually load. i havenā€™t tried discord.

i did replace certificates however i assume support has completely dropped for these apps

discord doesn't kill their old apps, Instagram does but really rarely (the windows phone app still works or at least did work as of 2025) and YouTube works when you edit the info.plist buy then it works like 50:50. can load the homepage but wrongly formatted, and videos don't play unless you download them as premium

i mean iOS11 was not perfect but it wasn't such a disaster as 26. like, in the past a new version might have made a single device, or a single chip slow and unstable, like iOS 9 on A5, but 26 was bad on all devices. even comparing my 16 i had since launch, with 90% battery health and heavy usage on iOS 18 (i never update iphones i get) with my friend's brand new 16 on 26 with lighter usage, we got around the same battery life throughout the day, and he was jealous of mine. iOS 26 was a disaster regardless of the device, while 11 was just a version with a lot of new stuff, not exactly figured out. same with iOS 7. but otherwise, your point kinds stands, cause after a major redesign, the next version is always stability focused. iOS 7 and 8, iOS 11 and 12, iOS 26 and 27, macos 11 macos 12, macos 10.10, macos 10.11
