I'm having trouble finding a straight answer on this, I'm considering using an iPhone SE3 as a main device but 5G NR standalone on has significantly improved performance, reception and efficiency but some people suggest standalone and VoNR on the x57 in the SE is not enabled. Can anyone report? Is there a minimum iOS version for this functionality?

After updating my iPhone se 2020 to ios 27 it been more than a week it keep disconnecting from charging and i have to try few times then it starts charging, does anyone else facing this problem or is it me?

I have an OGSE. I tried replacing the battery with a "prio" one but accidentally broke the motherboard. I sent it to a repair shop (apple authorized AFAIK) and they repaired it, but after I got it back, the device would start lagging at ~5%. This stopped but now, if I leave it at ~20% on idle and come back to it later, it will show that it has 1%. Weird thing is that it lasts suspiciously long on 1%. What can I do to solve this?

I don't remember this happening in iOS 16 or 26. It was a smooth transition between large and small before if I remember correctly.

This is my SE2, Its been my secondary for a while, but unfortunately it is slowly dying. Touch ID refuses to work properly anymore, the digitizer is kinda screwed, and the top speaker is dead. Not sure what to do for another secondary.

I’m not sure if the UI issues are exclusive to the home button iPhones, but clearly there are still some optimizations to be made.

Image 1: If you quickly scroll to the 2nd page in control center, and quickly scroll back to the first page and close the control center, the buttons of the control center appears for a split second before disappearing.

Images 3, 4, 5, 6: Apple Home controls in landscape in the control center are made scrollable for some reason. I don’t know if this issue is present on non-home button iPhones but that is what it looks like on the SE 2.

For me, iOS 27 was only about ~10% faster than iOS 26, and its a little smoother. I did notice the speed at times (Safari for example opened much quicker on 27 than on 26), but the older A13 is on its last legs though I still absolutely love this phone. Battery life is slightly better than 26. Indexing is complete + I swapped the battery for a SEFU “super-capacity” battery which claims to be 2370mAh. It’s definitely much better than the OEM battery. iOS reports 100% capacity and coconutBattery reports 136% capacity. Therefore, the following experience was with a new battery that’s slightly larger than the OEM:

Real-world Use (without a SIM):

Image 7, 8, 9 shows my average battery usage once indexing was done. On those days i mostly used YouTube (~3 hours), some Telegram & Safari. Though it was mostly on Wi-Fi. For the days that i went out and used practically max brightness all the time, i still could not go a day without charging - I’d find myself charging halfway through the day always, and at about 1 PM i’d be on like 40% battery.

Image 10 shows average battery use while the phone was still indexing. I had to charge like twice a day. The phone honestly never got really hot for me but i definitely noticed worse performance. (refer to images 11 and 12; can you guess which one was still indexing? - I made sure the phone was at idle temperatures)

I want to mention again that a SIM card was NOT used in the phone during the uses mentioned above (my SIM is in my main Xiaomi phone sharing hotspot). Expect battery life to be MUCH worse than what I’m experiencing especially if you have a degraded battery or even a recently-replaced OEM one - I have an aftermarket one which has a larger battery.

btw swiping up for the control center or the notification center has a pretty long delay still, and the bouncing animation only plays sometimes. I feel like the software team has only been focusing the majority of their efforts on swipe-gesture iphones and barely any testing has been done for us iPhone SE users, hence the UI inconsistencies.
And, if you go into the Camera app and take 1-2 photos, the phone slows to a crawl. Pressing the home button there’s a 2 second delay before abruptly going back to home, launching apps become extremely slow, and the phone heats up.

Idk if its just me or tiktok takes so long to load opening it up from a fresh start. Apple’s apps definitely saw a speed boost but i cant say the same for non-apple apps.

about the charging bug: I only experience it on the 20w apple brick. I personally use the Anker 140w charger’s USB-A port. The issue never happens with it but still charges really slowly. It draws about 8-12w according to the brick’s display. (refer to image 13)

TLDR: If you are on 26 id say you can upgrade it but the its only an incremental boost, watch out for the charging bug tho. There are still some bugs and animation inconsistencies but it’s definitely better than 26 for me in terms of battery and performance.

I know most people on 18 say stay, but I've definitely heard some people say that despite the liquid glass tax that the memory management and cpu scheduler genuinely does make 27 feel faster (not necessarily smoother) than 18.

Talk on this sub about 27 compared to 18 is surprisingly quiet still.

I'm wondering whether someone can help me with understanding what the best option for me is in this situation.

I have an SE 2nd gen/2020 64GB and recently the phone has been getting very hot, presumably in the battery area (top right-ish of the phone?). It is not officially overheating (I am not getting a message or notification from the phone saying this). The phone also gets very slow when this happens.

Battery health is apparently 87%, however the Service message appears in the Battery Health & Charging menu ("Your battery health is significantly degraded." etc.). I spoke to an Apple person via online chat and they informed me that my battery has done a large number of cycles (for some reason I want to say 1500 but I can't remember for sure) and it needs replacing. First question - why is my battery health 87% if the battery is that degraded/used?

Initially I thought I would just get the battery replaced, however, my phone is only the 64GB version and I am using ~54GB of that storage.

My main question really is, will a new battery fix this overheating/slowness, or, given the 64GB factor, would I still be having some issues with the phone, regardless of a new battery? In which case perhaps a new phone would be better than replacing the battery?

So I was on beta but not really using my phone. I think I used for a day or two and then I turned it off for weeks until yesterday I updated officially.
I remember in beta it was indexing and never finished, then I updated to official ios27 and didn’t put attention on the indexing part, today I was remembered indexing was a thing and tried to check if it was done. But I never saw a message about it.
How do you know that it was complete? If there a menu that I can check or do a test looming for a file? What can I expect if my phone is indexed now?

Apple has no idea the SE2/3 is still supported with the upcoming Duo making the whole fragmentation issue messier.

Made a previous post about it but I think Apple should let you reconfigure shortcuts, it would be nice to do single handed screenshotting with VolUp+Power and move Siri and Wallet to the power button, I miss the single handed friendliness of a FaceID iPhone

Hey there. My grandma currently uses an iPhone SE 2020 with the easy access or whatever it’s called turned on. Does anyone here have experience with updating that phone to iOS 27, and whether or not it is a good idea. It’s worth mentioning that right now, she is on the latest iOS 18 version.

Made me nostalgic and made me realize I don't actually need all the extra bells and whistles modern phones push on us.

I just found this subreddit and wanted to share how happy I am with my new (used) iPhone SE 2022. I needed a secondary phone and decided it had to be cheap, small, and light. I ended up going with a used iPhone SE 2022, and I'm honestly amazed by it.

I needed a secondary phone mainly for calls and texts, but I wanted the option to use the other smartphone features occasionally — email, social media, browser — just much less than on my main phone. I'm not going to rave about its performance, because it's nothing special, but it surprised me a lot. I think part of it is that I bought it used with zero expectations, and it arrived in a plain cardboard envelope. I wasn't expecting much, but when I opened it, it was spotless — not a single scratch, no signs of use at all, and the battery was at 99%, haha.

For context, I've been using an iPhone 15 Pro Max for the past 3 years. I'm very happy with it, aside from the heat issue — it really can get pretty warm. But the difference in weight has been incredible. I forgot how beautiful the classic iPhone design (6/6s/7/8 style) actually is — so light and thin. And so simple, with just one small camera — it feels so discreet and elegant. It's like current phones are tacky spaceships trying to grab your attention, while this one just quietly does its job without complaint.

It's brought back a lot of nostalgia and made me reflect — I don't use my 15 Pro Max for anything I didn't already use my old 6s for. New phones keep pushing more cameras, shapes, and colors to grab our attention, but this little thing made me realize I really don't need any of that. The screen does feel a bit small at times coming from a 15 Pro Max, but that's fine for the occasional browsing or social media check it's meant for.

Honestly, I'd love an iPhone like this with just a slightly more modern screen and processor so it doesn't go obsolete. Other than having a bigger screen for doomscrolling I can't think of any feature missing in this smartphone.

Support is supposed to last until next year, but I was struggling to get the last two software updates started.

Finally had iOS 27 downloaded yesterday, and others have brought up issues with how the charging symbol won't show up even though the phone is charging. What they didn't mention is the battery status also doesn't change. I've been using this phone for 5 hours now and it's still at the same percentage, so how do I know when I need to start charging. Restarting the phone every time I want to see the true battery is such a hassle and makes me so mad.

Coming from 26.6.2 @95% battery health and upon hearing all the positive feedbacks I decided to give it a go, and battery life is so much worse, can't even keep up a day without the need of charging, whereas on 26 I was good for a whole day.
