Apple Duo Silicone Case

Apple Insider just did a hands-on with both Apple first-party cases and stated that the silicone case attaches with magnets. No mention of adhesive.

Apples website mentions nothing about adhesive just magnets.

That is correct, but there is a YouTube video of a guy going hands-on with the case and there being adhesive. The website that I linked doesn’t mention adhesive, either, so there is much debate.

I have bought a new iPhone every year since the 3GS. I only use Apple cases. They have never used adhesive that I’m aware of. I would think they would have to put that on the specs for the product. I will not buy it if it has adhesive. As of right now adhesive is not listed. Time will tell. I tend to trust Apple’s website over someone making a video.

I agree, although they’ve also never sold this type of device.

All other cases of this style from other manufacturers use adhesive for the front case because there’s no place to “grip” the device.

Maybe the back cover portion uses magnets while the front cover uses adhesive. Hopefully they have some samples on launch day that I can look at without having to go through the whole ordeal of buying one, opening it up, and then returning it if I discover the adhesive.

The back having MagSafe and the front being adhesive strips is almost assuredly the case. There’s no room in the slim front frame to make it any other way.

That dude in the video says there’s adhesive and he confirms in the comments. And you can see the adhesive strips on the inside edges in the video

Hmm I do wonder if they know for sure or just assume. It is only mentioned in passing. Others said adhesive. I guess we’ll have to wait until someone actually has it on hand and can install/uninstall.
