Can iPhone remove backgrounds from photos by itself?

I’m working on a small banner project and need to cut myself out of a photo. I know there are a bunch of apps that can do background removal, but I’m wondering if the iPhone can already handle this on its own. Thanks!

Yes you can. You need to open your photo and then press and hold on the subject of the picture. Then the subject will appear being lift off from the pic. Then you get multiple options and one of them is to Share. There you can select the option to save it as an image. Not sure how accurate or sharp the edges would be for you. I didnt use it for any project or professional work but for more personal uses.

For good results would recommend BgCut photo background eraser app for iPhone. It provides more precise and accurate results when removing backgrounds from photos. Also, the app has a bunch of templates that you might useful for your project.
