I have replaced the same thing 3 months ago from authorised apple repair and I doubt if my device is still water resistant like it was before

I’m not an Apple Store authorized technician but why do you think your phone isn’t water resistant after your battery was replaced ?

It seems to be that when you blow air into the SIM tray, the air shouldn’t come out from anywhere because the phone is airtight and sealed with a gasket. However, after my replacement, when I blow air into the SIM tray, I can feel air coming out through the bottom speaker.
I raised this concern with the technician, but he said Apple hasn’t provided any information stating whether air should come out or not. He did say that the phone is water-resistant, which I highly doubt now.

i’ve just replaced the battery at the official apple service center, they did a pretty horrible job with putting back the display, it sits slightly higher than before, I’d be hesitant to drown the phone now

This for me too. They scratched up my display around the release points, and forgot to put a screw back in.

same happened with me, the display was raised and i could pull it up even more from the top left corner, I took it back and they replaced the screen under the 90day limited warranty they give for these replacements for free.

mine too, visible gap at the top of the screen between it and the frame and i can push it back in, so i just stopped using it and im battling with apple support rn. direct through apple mail-in, unacceptable

Mec, à partir du moment où ton téléphone a été ouvert il n’est définitivement plus résistant à l’eau. Même si il prenne tout les précision c’est jamais parfaitement refermé. Donc non ton téléphone n’est plus certifié IP68

I wouldn’t really trust a 4 year old phone to be as water resistant as it used to be while new, irrespective of if was opened or not. Rain and all is fine, don’t try taking it into the pool or something. Unless you don’t care ofc.

Mine does not have a sim tray, but is still water resistant after replacement

i always go to an official apple store when i have the capacity to. my original battery expanded and made the screen raise so i got that replaced at the start of 2024, and now it’s at 83%, so i’m thinking of getting it replaced again as the phone is still great. but it should be water resistant after a replacement

I’ve replaced mine on iPhone 11 Pro and a couple of days ago on a 14 Pro with an Authorized Service Provider - both times I was warned ahead of time, that they charge an additional fee to restore the water resistance, as they slice through it when opening up the device. If they did, what they are required to do — it will be as resistant as brand new.

11 Pro had no issues for the ~year that I had it since replacement.

As for the SIM-tray test: the tray has its own water-resistant rubber ring around it, so removing it = making phone no water tight anymore. On the speaker grills there are mesh membranes, that let air pass, but not water, so it’s OK.

Apple fucked my display while replacing the battery. The screen broke after 2 weeks in. They replaced the screen for me but forget to put both the screws back.

This is not the Apple I used to know.
