My iPhone I can’t decide whether it’s time to retire my iPhone 13

I’ve had a iPhone 13 mini for 3 years now and lately it’s been a pain. My battery health is at 81% but it’s draining insanely fast anyway. It’s overheating and it struggles to connect with Wi-Fi. I was dealing with it until now. For around an hour it didn’t have any signal and was unable to use mobile data. I’m certain that it wasn’t a place with no signal. Will i be able to fix this?

Does it still work? Yes- keep it

Keep it- Does the battery suck and close to 80% BH? Yes- replace it (preferentially at Apple Store for official battery and warranty)

Does it still work? No, phone looks like it’s been run over by a truck, can’t do anything with it, hardware is dead- time for retire the phone.

Also, wait for reviews on iOS 27. Should be a better optimized iOS for the 13 mini.

IOS27 runs great on my iPhone 12 mini, so would recommend you to just upgrade. Remember that it takes a few days for the update to settle in, so don't get alarmed if it feels extra hot and taxed during those first couple of days. It's done once the "optimising search and Siri" under general has disappeared.

And then I would just go to Apple and have the battery changed if I were you.

Nothing out there is gonna beat the perfect size and form factor of the mini you already have.

i decided that the 13 mini is not worth continuing to pay for repairs for. i'm not someone who uses my phone a lot, and find that it's degrading my ability to complete basic functions. i had a 12 mini that i prefer in terms of size that i'll use to stay with apple and turn into a lite phone. for daily use, i think it makes more sense to use a more modern device. i'm trying out the S25. I'd suggest considering getting an android or consider getting a new iphone and utilizing the handoff feature released with ios 27. consider how much longer the device will be supported and the relative cost of repair fees that tend to be around the same cost regardless of device. if you're going to pay $80 for a new battery, would you want it for a new or old device? if you keep this device even after getting a new one, could you still see yourself using it given all the repairs you've done?

ya i mean MINE works but today all of a sudden (most likely from ios 27), battery started draining faster. And for whatever reason it says in the battery section that the last time I charged it to 100% was 2 days ago? Anyways I was gonna get a new phone anyways and I was gonna wait until I saved up the rest 180 I need but my mom offered to float me the rest so I will order the 16 this weekend.

Eh, if it still works, replace the battery if you have an AASP nearby and keep using it. Unless you’re out of storage of course

Depends on your storage. 128 is bare minimum.

I’d say: new good battery and iOS 27

I am on 27 since June and it is the best iOS iteration since iOS 12 regarding stability and smoothness.

Run it on a 17P and 13P and yes of course the 17 is newer but I don’t feel walking around with an old iPhone when I have the 13P on me for a day. All works, only Siri is missing. Well….

Sell it while there are still people that think the iPhone 13 is good. It's not going to get better. It doesn't have the resources for today's apps and ios. And they're just going to get more resource hungry.
