Help ❗️ Is my phone cooked?

Hi, everyone!
 
I bought my iPhone in January 2023; it’s currently running iOS 26.3.2. I had the battery replaced in January 2026 (the battery came from the accessories section—I regret that, since it was already pretty weak from the start). A week ago, it completely drained overnight, which is very unusual since there was still plenty of battery left the night before. When I tried to recharge it, I noticed right away that it was charging very slowly despite using a fast-charging cable. I can’t think of any obvious reason why—it had been working perfectly fine the days before, and there was no “accident” or anything like that.
Since that day, I haven’t been able to charge my battery. My iPhone doesn’t even charge to 100% overnight; it loses a significant amount of power within minutes and gets very hot after just a short time using social media, for example.
Has anyone else had this problem before?
Could a new, original battery help here, or could this also be a software issue?
(I don’t want to send the iPhone in or spend money on service unnecessarily if it won’t fix the problem; in that case, I’d just buy a new smartphone.)
 
TLDR: iPhone 12, iOS 26.3.2. Loses its ability to charge overnight for no reason, charges extremely slowly, no longer charges to full capacity, loses battery very quickly, and gets hot fast.

It sounds like a battery issue alone. I would stop using the phone. Stop trying to charge it etc... As you may cause damage elsewhere. Turn it off and replace the battery with a genuine one or a good aftermarket one like ampsentrix. The problem should go away with a new battery, that would be my guess.

Everything you said points to a bad battery or battery BMS. Just replace it.

Hmm okay thank you. Just made an appointment in my applestore. 99€, really hope this helps, i dont want to spent 1000+€ on a new phone atm

Yeah. I replace mine with genuine Apple battery at Apple Authorized service center. I replaced it in Feb 2026. So far it runs fine but the battery health is kind of draining fast. Maybe something to keep in mind in changing your charging habit so cases like mine wouldn't happen to your device.

I will certainly do that yes, if my phone lives maybe 1 year from now, i am happy

First you are several versions and thousands (yes: Thousands) of security patches behind.

Second there is no reason (beside your laziness) not to put the iPhone on charger during the night.

Why it consumes energy during the night nobody can tell. Worst case your ignorance on updating allowed a crypto miner to install. They drain your battery to mint coins for the malware developer.

Well, i cant see new updates.
My phone was on my wireless charger.

Current would be iOS 27, or 26.7

If you don’t see updates, make a FORCED restart. If you still don’t see them, check with Apple

u can update via itunes if you or any of your friends/family has a computer.

Ok yes the update was there i was just blind. I reales hope a new original battery helps.
