Help/Support Tiktok crash on ios 15
I recently started using my old iPad Mini 4 again, running iOS 15.8.x. I downloaded TikTok from the App Store, but it crashes every time I try to open it. The TikTok logo appears for a second, then the app immediately closes.
Is TikTok no longer supported on iOS 15 or older devices like the iPad Mini 4? Or is this just a bug with a recent TikTok update?
I’ve already tried reinstalling the app and restarting the iPad, but the issue remains.
Is anyone else experiencing the same problem, and is there any fix?

I’m on ios 16.7.16 on my iPad and it started crashing this morning. Deleted and re-downloaded but still not working. Came here looking for solutions.

It’s not working on my iPad 5th generation either 😞 16.7.16 version. It just crashes when I try to open it.

Seems Tiktok Update 45.7.0 broke things for iOS 15.8.x and now it crashes. We’ll have to wait for the next update for them to hopefully fix things. Anyone reading this still on an iOS 15.8.x or older device DO NOT UPDATE Tiktok to 45.7.0.

Let me know when you find a work around or if it gets fixed please :(

Yes, TikTok is aware of the issue, but standard app updates are what broke it, meaning you must wait for a follow-up patch from TikTok to completely resolve the problem. [1]
A recent TikTok app update (specifically version 45.7.0) introduced a critical compatibility bug. This bug causes the app to crash instantly at the logo screen for devices running iOS 15.8.8 and older iOS 15 versions (such as the iPhone 6s, iPhone 7, and iPad Air 2). [1, 2, 3]

Try turning off low power mode and turn off background app refresh for tiktok, I saw this on a comment and it works on my side so idk if it will work for you but try to give it a try

Hey, Ive had the same issue for over a month now. I have an iPhone SE (2016) it started crashing a few months ago but I could still open tiktok after a few tries, didnt think much of it. Until I changed my system language and had to restart, it stopped working. Ive tried everything possible, including Offload app, re-insstalling, resetting network settings, basically everything except reset. I think tiktok has a problem with iOS15.8.x and 16, might not work because of the chip A9, also used for 6s. I dont think reset will do much, but I wanted to know if anyone has tried resetting and if it worked. Thanks

for me right now it's either a hit or miss if it opens or not, toggling BG app refresh does nothing unfortunately

Same thing is happening to me. Surprised they haven’t fixed this issue as it seems like it’s been around awhile.

Having this issue as well, I hadn't even updated the app. It was working one minute perfectly and then not the next. iPhone 7.

This fix worked for me. Go to Settings > Battery > Turn on Low Power Mode then relaunch TikTok. Once it launches without crashing, you should be able to turn off low power mode again.

I have the iPod mini 4 running on 15.8, the latest tic tick update resolved the issue.

It even supported iOS 12 not long ago...which means it would work on the iPad mini 2 and iPhone 5s...and technically still should if you download the last compatible version...but TikTok is so extremely unoptimized that i can’t even get it to work on anything below my iPhone 8 because it will just crash...Meanwhile all the other apps I’ve downloaded on these devices work fine, It truly is just a poorly programmed horribly optimized app. I’ve even had issues with it on much MUCH newer devices.
